Let me help. You probably already made your decision, but for future reference.
I already gave my precious time to this so I want my pain to have meaning.
As general rule, any show must have either action, character development, interesting storyline, non tedious progression, you got my point...
Understanding the slice of life tag: I watch these kind of shows, usually to relax. Their lack all of the above criteria, and they are good only if you are in the right mood.
Understanding the comedy tag: usually they have some or all of the previously mentioned criteria, but all the effort is put in having fun and humor. Notable example: Hayate no Gotoku, Gintama, etc.
This show is a failed comedy that does better as a slice of life. The comedy is repetitive and tedious. Situations aren't really interesting. Art is generic.
If you want to see what this show should have been, watch Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita! (if you haven't yet)
Key differences:
WNTGM has character development.
WNTGM is actually fun.
WNTGM is good slice of life that does well as comedy. This other shit is a failed comedy that do poorly as slice of life.
Uzamaid constantly deceives you:
Deception 1: It's more about an adult going after an underage than about a girl going after another girl. The yuri tag, if still around, it's a lie.
Deception 2: The main character isn't even a girl. She doesn't look as one. She doesn't think as one. She doesn't act as one.
Deception 3: Per the show's tags, it should be a relaxing experience. It's a very stressing experience in the end. You will constantly hope that the show improves, but it never does so.
WNTGM is honest. The mc feels something about a little girl. She, the mc, doesn't really understand the nature of this feeling. It may be pedo, it may be not, the show doesn't answer the question. I love ambiguity. The mc explores the possibilities completely free of any malice. She is actually a very nice person. It sets the right mood. You can enjoy the comedy. The first episode is enough to release you of any concerns about the nature of the show, and just relax and enjoy.
The worst sin of WNTGM is the character of Higero. It's supposed to be comic relief but... it, absolutely, ruins the mood. Thankfully, they don't abuse that resource. If I remember it well, it appears in 3 episodes.
WNTGM art is also generic. But it's cute. And the constantly change of clothes of the character makes it interesting enough to compensate.
I'm OK with everything a show may contain, as long as it's fiction. So you can have really anything. Including adults falling in love with underages. As long as you are able to answer a simple question: Why I should be interested? And preferably answer that before episode 3.
Should you watch...? Sure. If you don't have an score or 1 or 0 in your anime list, then you still lack experience. You need enough samples to gain understanding of this industry. |
