After watching more comedy anime I can confidently say that kazuma emotionally declaring to chizuru in public that he will keep renting her and renting her with dramatic music while random people look at him is funnier than anything the comedy genre will ever produce

Kinda agree. Have watched lots of animes (40-50) and especially most of them were at least partial comedies, yet Rent a Girlfriend's comedy was really something as compared to most of them. Definitely in my top 5 best comedy. Waiting for S3. It's probably one of the only Ecchi/Harem anime that I like

I'm talking about 40-50 different animes, for example considering the entire Naruto or the entire Re:Zero or the entire fate series to be a single show. My MAL list is pretty much incomplete and doesn't have lots of shows I've watched.

I feel this too! I actually laugh out loud when I watch rent a girlfriend Bc it’s so ridiculous and the music and the facial expressions and exaggerated stupidity is just too much for me not to laugh. Like yeah, rent a gf is trash. No one ever said it was actually good. But damn it’s funny as hell to watch I can’t stop!

😂💀literally thought the same thing, not like it’s the best or even close but in regards to the harem/echi genre I’d say it’s a cut above most. Having actually lost my grandparents, I found the way tht it ties in both their families and tht desire to make your elders proud resonated with me. Plus, it’s not every day that a protagonist is so genuinely srs about pursuing one girl when he could easily go the scumbag route. Just my personal opinion tho👌🏾
