Year 2 Vol4 I don't know if I get it right

So, I had a trouble picturing the situation when it came to GPS tracking he did and taking pictures of it. Was it like a dot on the map shown for like a few seconds or did it have some kind of line shown where the person was walking around for a few minutes before he searched it? Because he was talking about how Nagumo on others were walking together through the map and where they went.

Also, don't get the part where they were talking about Ichika that she was following them and what path she chose to go so they don't find her, before the 7th day. Did he used GPS search for her during the 5th and 6th day or did he come to the conclusion without it

And lastly, hopefully, the part where Nagumo and other 3rd year groups merged together. Were they just walking together or did they make like one big group, like on team of all of them. Otherwise I don't understand, because if they did not make a 1 big group, then I don't get it how they meant they were earning points for Nagumo in the tasks.
