As much as I loved the new episode, I find it hard to believe that all the civilians decided to simultanously change their minds and thought that Lycoris and all the shootings along with the fight at the Tower was just a big prank just because some short tv announcement told them so.

I was hyped to see how the story would unfold after Lycoris got shown to the public, how their shootout was broadcasted live everywhere and how civilians started to pick up and fire stashed Lycoris pistols, but bruh, that felt so anticlimatic to me.

Anyone feels kinda similar about this or is it just me?

Groupthink is a phenomenon that occurs when the desire for group consensus overrides people's common sense desire to present alternatives, critique a position, or express an unpopular opinion

its a real phenomenon

Friendly reminder, that in 1938 people really thought US was invaded by aliens because audio drama was airing on radio and it caused wide panic.

That's true but I still find the whole ordeal to be illogical and anticlimatic considering how widespread the transmission was, not to mention that people getting shot on the street with many witnesses obviously wouldn't be THAT easy to pass off as a "prank"

Difference is, LycoReco takes place in 21st century where fuckton of people can mass record and tweet stuff in 30 seconds, while in those times Radio was still a fairly new tech for majority of the population, not to mention that the fastest communication method of that time was either a cable phone or a telegraph, which fun fact - wouldn't transmit pictures or videos and so couldn't really proof that this was 100% real right away

I'm a bit mixed on this. Yeah, everyone thinking it was a show seems a cheap way to get out of it, and the fact they'd have to cover up people finding guns and shooting these girls. Still, if the anime does get a season 2, they'll need some way to continue their operations.

Just cause most of the public thinks it was a show doesn't mean everyone will think that way.

It might be a real phenomenon, but two people, possibly more, traded fire and kill each other.

This was just bad writing.

To be fair there is still a whole episode left, and potentially more seasons; also they didn’t really show the places where the girl and the guy got shot. I would really right it off to soon, even though it looks like the people just fell for the “staged act”.

No.
People having access to free information does not make them smarter, since most of the information available there is completely worthless. People being spoon feed bullshit will make them dumb.

Yea, I still think that this is an amazing show but that was clearly mediocre writing right here

If you are gonna make a sudden and major plot point that the main/side charactere would fix within 1 or 2 eps, at least make it look not anticlimatic and plausible when its fixed, even for the world of the anime

They most likely can't, at least without the help of the writers, too many people were killed and each of them had families, friends...

It was simply badly done, they might address it later, but the way they are going it doesn't seem like it.

Ok so bear in mind that the show told us 100 people found the guns.
That's 100 people who know the truth. If anything happens to them, their families will know, their friends will know. The witnesses in the street will see them fire it against police officers or Lycorises + their families and their friends will know of these incidents (we see 2 examples on screen).
And if we take into account all the tower workers we see dead in episode 10, are they never gonna be missed?
And then you remember that in episode 9 Chisato opened fire on civilians on a high way (one of the worst moments for Chisato as a character), but I guess none of these people remember anything?
And then you remember that in episode 7, an entire police station, with all the policemen and workers there got massacered, so their families and anyone in range of the gunfire sound (and that's a large area) would've known something was up.
And then remember that this has been happening since Takina started a gunfight in a residential nighborhood in episode fucking 1, (if we forget about the stupid montage the show starts on). and has happened almost every episode except 3.

Please don't try to defend the logic of how any of these orginizations remain secret and just call it what it is: A fuck-up on the writers part. Or maybe they know and they just don't give a shit. idk.

I wouldn't say the civilians were dumb per se, but are in paranoia from Majima's announcement broadcast. Majima's master plan was to expose the violent nature of the lycoris to the world. Thus, he sent his men to the radio tower only to get attacked by the Lycoris. And then showed footage of the blood bath aftermath of it which triggers fear and anxiety. But little did the civilians know that this was all staged and that Majima led his men their to die.
Him scattering the thousand guns all over Tokyo was to get a reaction out of the civilians. Majima wanted to see how they would respond if they spotted a Lycoris in uniform out in the public.

They only can control their control, this is something much bigger in scale, the friends of the victims have families and these members have friends, besides there are mutiple ways to inform people without the government knowing. Ever heard of songs and comics?

You don’t really understand how propaganda works, do you? You realize if tomorrow, every newspaper and television and radio station and website affiliate proclaimed that aliens were invading earth, the overwhelming majority would eat it up? That’s what is so powerful about controlling the media. You control information, and if nobody has anything else to compare it to, your information becomes “truth”. That is what Majima is even fighting against: DA’s iron grip on the media and controlling the narrative to cover up their exploits.
