I was suddenly worried about this issue, since I just found out that the remake of the very first VN in the series has undergone a heavy adjustment in the West, removing any hints of sexual content or any emphasis on the gender of the characters in the dialogue. I know this is part 3 and Crunchroll didn't translate VN, but should I be worried? |

I know this is part 3 and Crunchroll didn't translate VN, but should I be worried? There is no censorship in any of the versions available in English. This is coming from someone that went through the remake both on PS4 and PC, the PC version is better, and the same parts of the original from 2002. I can tell you that nothing was changed in the English versions that was not already changed in the Japanese versions besides a single scene that was at the request and supervision of the original Japanese creators in Mask of Deception due to publishing laws in certain regions that'd cause it to not be published at all. However, this change is purely cosmetic and does not remove any kind of nuance or intention from the actual scene or game in question. For the original game's remake, there is an article going around, which you are likely referencing with this post, however it has no real basis as the Japanese translations it's using are machine translated and not actually representative of what it says in Japanese. Crunchyroll has also had no part in any kind of translation or localization for anything beyond the anime adaptations. Aquaplus have been, and likely always will be, in charge of all official localizations and translations of original, canon material. This includes proofreading and going over scripts. |

I'm saying that those were never in the script or never had the meaning that people said they did. The MTL used to create this "controversy", as it always does, made mistakes due to various nuances in the Japanese text that it's unable to pick up. While the translation of the game's remake is not perfect by any means, it absolutely stays true to the original script with zero censorship. All sexual innuendos are all there. If this is the article you're referencing, then I am absolutely right as me and some other people fluent in Japanese have gone over this in the official Utawarerumono Discord and came to the exact same conclusion that I've said here. https://boundingintocomics.com/2022/09/01/english-localization-for-utawarerumono-prelude-to-the-fallen-under-scrutiny-over-nis-americas-cutting-of-lewd-and-gendered-dialogue/ |

And it doesn't look like a difference caused by machine translation. However, if you consider phrases like "I'm absolutely right" to be completely normal, further conversation is pointless. |

I say I'm absolutely right because this is an article and controversy created by people that have no actual care for authorial intent, in fact they disregard it entirely if it doesn't agree with their point, has no understanding of language barriers and the differences in nuance or the translation/localization process. Hence why they're using MTL to try and prove a point because of a vendetta this group in particular have against translation and localization as a whole despite not knowing any kind of Japanese at all themselves. If there was actually something wrong with the localization removing content, changing nuances and so on I'd be the first to mention it as I have with various other VNs and games in the past. |

i don't have the time to read all the other forum messages so sorry if i m repeating this in MoD and MoT, the only censorship is when munechika is beating Anju. in the Japanese version she is hitting her on her bare butt but in the English version, she hits anju with her pants on. sorry if I missed any other censorship (but I don't think there is any, other than this) as for PttF, it is a remake of the ps2 version from 2006. the PC version, which wasn't officially translated, had sex scenes but they were removed for the ps2 version for both the Japanese and English versions. so yeah there is no censorship in the eng version. they are the same as the Japanese version except they are English(duh) The sex of story importance still occurs but the scene is not shown. in its place, a view of a starry night is shown |
