Mint is becoming my favorite character in the show, for she always wants to prove herself.

Zakuro had quite a performance this episode too. The two fought like champs with their abilites. Very impressive imo, especially with how Zakuro fought.

Good episode, and the way Mint handle a situation in this episode is superb, beyond my expectation, and that's probably why Zakuro is willing to join the team.

And I love how the whole event is broadcast live to the whole nation!

The disguise plan being a total bust only because a bunch of baby chicks popped out of nowhere was unexpected lol. Mint’s face though, loved that -_- look lol. That second plan would have worked, if Lettuce had more confidence! Bu-Ling’s plan worked too well, she hypnotized herself too haha.

I guess Mint was trying to prove herself to Zakuro by rejecting her like that? Seems like what Mint said got Zakuro’s attention though. That’s a start. Zakuro’s song was actually kinda catchy, I dig it. I’m glad Mint got through to Zakuro in the end. Her transformed form is pretty tough! I love how Ichigo and the rest of the girls had a pose ready to go for the press haha.

Nice to have Zakuro join the team. Even though she’s the rookie, I kind of like how all the girls immediately look up to her. Guess the teams got a new leader.

It was a fun episode!
The first time I heard Zakuro's voice on episode 4, something was off, I felt like Momoka was forcing too much to do a deep voice but this time, it was actually quite good!

Now that Zakuro joined the group, I wonder when we will see Tart and Pie since Quiche is still alone after 6 episodes x)

Sorry, my english may not be the best, I am french.

The last member of the Mew Mew family to convince to their side: the celebrity Zakuro, by hook or by crook, it must be done. At least for Mint, it's done with a heavy heart.

Whatever tricks do the other Mew Mews come about to disguise their way into the TV station, the comedy...would've worked back in the day. Instead, relying on the resources is their best bet thanks to Zakuro, and what comes after is just a normally progressive plan...except when they're called onto the scene with their idol-centric costumes. But there's no time to waste, for Kish would strike at anytime, and the Mew Mews are on high alert to find Zakuro first before he does.

The police chase gag I find to be repetitive, but kinda funny though. And in the midst, Ichigo would find Zakuro, but the latter's decision still stands unless the former can really convince her enough, which Kish and the Mew Mews' interference would forcibly show her the truth. Small Chimera ones are possible, but big Parasite Animas are worst, and Zakuro eventually transformed to do away at the Parasite Anima...only except that all their actions were caught on live broadcast, which gave them too much attention thanks to Ichigo's loose tongue-in-cheek "marketing".

Of all the Metamorphose transformations, I was SO looking forward to Zakuro's having the classic Sailor Moon effect, and it delivered beautifully with maturity. Nevertheless, a chance is a chance given, and Zakuro will be a big addition to the crew: the rookie that's strong.

The team is altogether now at the half-way point, and let's see how they'll tackle Kish and the Animas. Prolly the best episode so far.

I honestly loved this episode through and through! I didn't notice the issues from previous episodes at all. The way they've restructured this fight to have them protect Zakuro as she sings was such an incredible idea.

Minto's character is so much better in the anime. I remember kinda hating her as a kid but here they've fully fleshed out her character and the moment when she yells that she wants to become stronger and Zakuro relates to her was done beautifully.

All of the VA was also way better this episode! Yuuki still has her struggles, but Mirai and Momoka shone in this one, Mirai especially. I've been doubtful until now but no more! I am so hype for coming episodes, let's gooooooooooooooo!!
The 2002 Tokyo Mew Mew adaptation is not as great as you remember it being.

mint is so gay for zakuro lol. i really loved the chibi humor at the beginning of the episode, that was adorable! also the chimera anima in this episode was REALLY cool. i’m also interested in what would’ve happened if zakuro was used as a host for the parasite anima, because from what i remember a human hadn’t been infected before, idk just something to think about. but overall, super enjoyable episode! i think mint is becoming my favorite character, tied with bu-ling.

Finally Zakuro joins the bunch!
In the original she was one of my favorites so I hope she gets to pull her weight here too.
With Mint being developed further and being given some material to work with, she's a lot higher on my character rankings this time around. I hope Purin/Pudding/Bu-Ling gets an episode as well in these remaining 6. Lettuce is already fine as she is. Same with Ichigo. I also wonder if they'll get around to Kish' motivations...

Zakuro's voice got wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy (with a LOT of Y) better this time.

Sounds way less forced than before. I guess the VA found her voice

Mint surely is the MVP today, glad her maturity managed to rope in Zakuro

Bu-Ling's disguises were hilarious

The girls being caught on live tv along with their reactions too was pretty fun, especially since Ichigo almost messed up haha

Pretty sure Aoyama-kun recognised Ichigo though

Can't wait for next episode~

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I feel like the writers are moving way too fast and focusing on Zakuro too much. Like they're hyping Zakuro up but we haven't even gotten episodes centered around Mint or Purrin independently - if I remember in the OG show, Mint had some ballet conflict and Ichigo had to warm up to Purrin (Purrin was homeless I think). It feels like they've just dived right into Zakuro because she's a fan favourite, I mean I like her relationship with Mint and how it might go, but Mint should've had her own episode.

Plus... I'm sorry... But I really wished Kish was less molest-y. I really wanted to ship him with Ichigo because Aoyama is so, so boring. We don't even know why Aoyama likes Ichigo and vice versa. I can't ship the two if Kish is deadass assaulting Ichigo everytime he's on screen lol.

Anyways, the gang's hijinks are kinda funny and I think they're developing more chemistry by getting into these situations (the disguises, the pillow fight, etc). I just hope it keeps up and we get some good character development.

I liked so much that simple old school comedy with the guard, they don't make it like this anymore, there are so many onesama lines and implied yuri that I feel I'm watching Assault Lilly every once in a while.

Sorry to say it, but this is very faithful to the manga on both the points you made. Save for Minto's introduction chapter that was skipped and merged into episode 5 the new adaptation is keeping pretty perfect pacing with the manga. You can really tell they're going the SM Crystal route of giving this adaptation a purpose by making it close to the original instead of doing a filler heavy four cour show like they did in 2002. Quiche being the king of sexual assault and harassment is also very faithful, I never understood why anyone shipped him and Ichigo for this very reason. Even as a kid I thought he was just incredibly creepy.

I'm all for less filler but I feel like here it's a detriment to the characters. Being faithful to the manga is good but I feel like you have to sacrifice some faithfulness when making an anime; maybe consider that fans of the original show are probably in their teens or 20s and don't remember everything, or remember some things that you're skipping. They could've probably fit Purrin's conflict in her episode without having it focus on Ichigo and Aoyama's date (which was so dumb btw how tf did they get seperated when they WERE like 3 FEET APART lolol). I think Aoyama was more bland in the original too, which is why people shipped Ichigo with Kishu, and that says a lot more about Aoyama tbh.

I guess this is the best episode in a while, I can say that. But if I take out my mask, I want to say this episode is just a plot device bro.

Yeah Zakuro sings decent, and the part where they get surrounded by the media is funny, but yeah nothing to say much, atleast Zakuro is finally here...

and that is the end of the first half of this series. The fact that we don't have Pai and Taruto yet in this reboot tells me that this series is really only having one big fight and that's it...yeah that will be a bummer.

I would like to see more of Zakuro inner monologe and background, it feels like she hast to share her episodes with Mint too much. I really like seeing how Mint thinks about her and how she acts because of it, but I also want to know more of Zakuro's perspective. Nevertheless, there hasn't been any Pudding centered episode either. She had to share her intro with Ichingo's date.

Every one had a moment to shine in this ep, it was very fun and cute. Now I only wonder if being on TV will affect their mission.

Really fun episode, my favorite so far! From the fun sequence of the girls trying to sneak past the security, to Zakuro's performance & finally joining the team! The fight with Quiche to her singing felt like a cool AMV. Hopefully the upcoming episodes will be this fun and fresh! Only negative is Quiche showing up, fighting for a bit and then just leaving. Hopefully he will actually do something or just really anything storywise.

I agree. The manga had awful pacing and really poor writing at times, so it's sad that these issues are being adapted and inherited by the new adaptation. In the manga none of the girls, save for Ichigo, got any real development. In that way I honestly think the new adaptation has improved on the original because Minto is way more of a human being here than she ever was in the manga. I also don't like how rushed the story is, but I honestly feel like the writers are doing what they can with the time and material they were given. This episode was way better than the previous ones, so I have high hopes that things will be looking up from now on~

from episode 1 to now I can honestly say it's a disappointment. everything is set out in the wrong order and alot of stuff has been skipped or placed wrong. example mint is meant to be after ichigo not before.
as someone who loves the original this one is painful to watch. but despite that the updated anime style was refreshing.....to an extent.

True and for the sake of plot, they still haven’t explain why they’ve chosen Mint first before the others.

I think they should finally explain why. the whole thin reminds me of what happened with the reboot of Fist of the north star......sad

She says "Zakuro onee-sama", onee-sama being a very polite way to address women older than yourself. Onee-san, -chan or in very rare cases -sama isn't necessarily limited to actual sisters, even total strangers can be addressed that way. I, too had the lovely experience of being called "onee-chan" myself when I was in Japan :) I guess the translation wanted to be as close to the English language as possible. I first thought "Queen Zakuro" sounded way too over the top, but localization-wise it's actually pretty solid.

The person who replied to you before me is right. I think it's fine to use "Queen Zakuro" because Zakuro is an idol and fans describe their idols as royalty all the time.

I actually enjoyed this episode. The outfits they wear to sneak into the TV studio are better than their super suits. (I am not a fan of the new designs, but I understand they needed an update.)

Mint grows balls and tells Zakuro that the Mews don't need her and focuses on fighting Kish when he arrives. Zakuro's song she performed was catchy and very reminiscent of the Y2K magical girl anime. It's here where we see Zakuro rethink her decision to not join the Mews.

The girls fight Kish and his aliens while Zakuro sings for her fans, especially Mint. The aliens come together to form a giant monster, thus forcing Zakuro to morph and defeat it. Once that is done, the girls realize they were on live TV the entire time. Zakuro finally joins the Mews.
