It might, but it just won’t affect the main story.

The fact that it’s being written by the original author is great though - episode 24 of season 1 (Shizu meeting Diablo/Black) was also an anime original written by the author, and it was great!

It’s written by the author of the LN though? But it was announced from the get go that it wasn’t from the LN.

The movie is anime canon, just like how the beginning of S2 is anime canon. Also this series will probably be getting at least another two seasons, if not enough seasons to finish the story at around 2040 I estimate. The series is far too successful for it not to have more seasons

Can't Fuse Have Integrated Whatever Happens In The Film To Season 3, And Create A New Canon Instead Of The Manga/LN.

But The Movie Will Be Part Of The Anime Canon, Either Way.

This is not the first time that something ike this happened. Sao Ordinal Scale, Mahouka and Toaru movies were written by their respective LN authors, they belonged to anime continuity. But then they decided that the ontent can belong to LN canon, since they later created manga/LN adaptations for those movies.

If Fuse want it, he can do the same for this movie, but we have to wait for the second trailer for more details of the story.

The beginning of the trailer tells you that Rimuru became a Demon Lord, and in the middle of the trailer you see him with the DL outfit. So yes, it happens after S2 ending.

it can be set in a seperate time ( there are some peace times in ln which were skipped and this movie can be fitted in those time skips months ( like before the hero incident and after the revival party)

Yes. And the movie may do something similar, since it’s also an anime original written by the author.

None of those fit in the LN timelines and the events never get referenced. It just goes into a blackhole.

Thats why i said "If Fuse wants it", thats his choice, he is not forced to put in in LN timeline. From my perspetive, the best place that can put this story is in the middle of the 1 month timeskip of Volume 7. There might a few changes with the story (unless we wait for the second trailer/movie to find out), but it can be possible to exist in LN.

What's even the source for the claim that "it's not canon"? Infact there's a 1-month blank period in the story after Octagram was founded where this new story could very well canonically take place in. As of yet I see no reason why this story cannot be canon, nor have I seen any source that explicitly states it's not canon.

Wrong, there's a whole month worth of timeskip that happens after Walpurgis before the key events of the next arc begin. Also Fuse has a trackrecord of just randomly retconning in ideas into the LN he wrote for the other versions of the story like Veldora's Journal or Diablo's encounters with Shizu. They'll even make a "Volume 0" manga release that contains a bit of background story for the movie showing Hiiro's childhood with Benimaru and Shuna.

So far the only things that Fuse kept strictly separated from the "LN canon" were the WN and the "mirror world" parts from the gacha.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next LN release (probably around March 2023) will casually reference the movie and/or its characters/locations at some point.

I'm pretty sure they will make it canon to the anime story, it's silly reason like a movie that not canon never use -hen in the title as if they are just stand alone movie.
But this one has -hen which is point out that it will be part of the story canon. As one of the arc of the story in the anime

Diablo and Shizu meet long time ago and that Diablo or shizu(Forgot who) is in debt to each other. Diablo mentioned to Rimuru while preparing the black numbers(forgot which volume) So he probably made an entire episode just for that🤷‍♂️

This movie is getting trashed pretty hard. Surprisingly since tensura has an inflated 8 rating. On r/anime people saying it was predictable, power creep filler amd skippable. I thought anime news network would shill for this movie but they dunked on it. The new sao movie surprisingly is getting far better reviews globally.

And it does not mesh with the cannon story as many things in the movie contradict the cannon badly. Unlike the four Inuyasha movies for instance that although not cannon they can fit pretty good inside the main story. Hiiro was originaly given the name by Rimuru and was together with the rest of the oni in the beginning.

Yeah, it would be more beneficial for you to learn from your mistake instead of trying to be sarcastic about it.
So, no! I am not being sarcastic , I just do not care about people that have nothing to say and try to be included in conversation. What I did is called overcorrection. It happens sometimes to non native english speakers as it is an extremely inconsistent language. But anyway since you have nothing relevant to say ... bye!

I just watched the movie and yeah, it wasn't that impressive and was incredibly predictable. I did find the main villain's performance amusing though. He reminded me of a mixture of a clown and Batman's Penguin.

@nightcrawlercyp Haven't watched the anime in a while, what were the contradictions in the movie to the official canon?

@FFTHEWINNER I do not remember much. But I know that the oni were transformed into Kishin ( humanoid looking oni) by Rimuru in the beginning after their village was destroyed by the orcs. This happens before Rimuru destroys the orc lord and convinces them to join him. Then you have Milim Nava which appears much later in the story. So basically the 3 races story gets completely messed up.

@nightcrawlercyp It was explicitly stated in the movie that Rimuru is a demon lord and defeated clayman though. That places it after everything we have seen pretty much, and well after the events you mentioned.

@nightcrawlercyp The Oni did know each other though? In the beginning of the movie, when the other Oni was fighting Geld, as soon as Rimuru's Oni entered the fight the other Oni recognized him and stopped the fight, and in the village everyone recognized him.

I have heard that the back story differs, but honestly I watched the anime too long ago so I can't remember what the backstory was there.

Nothing pisses me off more than movies and side-stories that offer nothing to world building. After the "Slime Diaries" nonsense, you'd think they would focus on show more than this, but nah, let's make a pointless movie that does nothing.

It was so boring that I fell asleep DURING THE COMBAT between that crappy flame demon thing. The stupid ending where everything just works out with "They lived happily ever after." nonsense and knowing this movie had nothing to do with the series just made me lower the rating from 5/10 to 1/10. Fuck off.

@Surmount Road to Endymion Novel literally has the same date as the Index movie Miracle of Endymion and the Novel is suppose to be a prequel of the movie, so no Index movie was planned only the Manga adaptation for the movie came later.
