What makes this movie a masterpiece ?

For me it’s the perspective of the MC that makes it reach another level. It’s unique how the anime has us see the story through the eyes of the bully who we slowly begin to understand as a character. It’s a great character growth anime.

lemme guess. You liked kimi ni no wa more? I mean it’s fine if you do but i feel like you either think a silent voice or your name is is a masterpiece or at least way better than the other. There are many reasons why a silent voice is a masterpiece and why kimi ni no wa is good but lacking in some areas imo. Pretty much the main thing for me is that the ending to kimi ni no wa felt so rushed as if they were tight on a budget and also that the story felt scattered and at times almost pointless. A silent voice has none of that and is an amazing story of bullying and changing who you are (with an addition fo depression and suicide) but i guess your either more into light hearted romance or darker, more real stories. I’m init both genres but a silent voice takes the cake as my favourite movie to ever be made.

It's very good, but not a masterpiece. I mean, Neon Genesis Evangelion is a masterpiece, and Berserk, bcs they changed something in diffrent worlds, not just anime. If you play souls-like games u know that they were insipired by Berserk in many ways. And Evangelion is just something else, it is very unique, i cannot really explain it to be honest but when i read/watch something related to this series my mood and energy just changes, it is not very good for me. I guess i didn't think this deeply of living or bcs i do not understand the characters at all? I just can't relate to this anime in any ways.

I feel like it’s good because you can truely feel the main characters feelings and how he sees the world. It makes it so much better that the creators did the X’s over the face and such on.

For me many reasons why I feel it's a masterpiece.

The story is amazing, the characters are all flawed and over time they all realize how flawed they are and how much it effects those around them.
The main character is in a real dark place and was a moment away from taking his own life, he stumbles back and gives up on it.
The main character doesn't look like he's pushing for redemption for what he did he looks like he's slowly coming to terms with what happened and tries to move on.
The realisation that the person he bullied was a nice person albeit slightly harder to get along with, her hardship being layed out for him to understand after he matured.
The way all his old classmates vile two faced personalities where so well hidden that they perfectly manipulated him into doing those things without being held accountable.

I could go on but I feel I'm not doing it enough justice, it will always be a masterpiece to me and I just hope people feel the same way.

dunno about others but this movie's a masterpiece for me and a unique one from other anime movies. everyone has different taste on animes so few of em might not think of this as a masterpiece.

It isnt, the pacing and editing is all over the place. I read the manga after watching the movie and they basically cut out the main reason they were all hanging out from the movie, which explained why some parts had me confused. A lot of anime fans just think "it's sad, so it's good!" and overrate a lot of stuff because of that. People who think this movie was Oscar worthy are smoking some good shit. This is coming from someone that actually enjoyed it enough to even decide to read manga after.

Compared to A Silent Voice, Pancreas tells the story in a less cohesive way and also makes it a bit hard to follow and then trying to punch in emotion at the end. I think that some of the visual tactics that were used in A Silent Voice help not only with the understanding of what is going on, but allow it to play into the story. For example, the Xs over peoples faces. Super interesting tactic done there to depict a message. I really think that there is no other Anime Film that is close to it but there are more and more coming out every year, so I wouldn't be surprised if one came along and took that spot eventually.

The fact that the main character invents reasons for seeing her, it's quite incredible how they managed to build a unique atmosphere with this film. Nothing too complicated, it's just perfect

It's a great movie but feels incomplete if you read the manga, most of your complaints won't ve a problem in the first place if they made this a series for it to be able to adapt the story fully.
If you did not read the manga, the most of the side characters will feel flat because their whole story arcs gets cut and turned to aubtle nuances you won't really comprehend if you did not read the source material.
