| This is the opening animation for the third DAICON sci-fi convention held in Japan in Osaka, 1981. This is the first work of the team that would later go on to found Studio GAINAX. Hideaki Anno, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, Takami Akai, and Shinji Higuchi - who were all university students at the time, took part in making this anime. Just as a pointless trivia: The name 'DAICON' comes from the fact that the 'o' Japanese character in Osaka can also be read as 'dai' and the 'con' part is a shortenend version of 'convention' and thus DAICON. :) So, what do you all think of this short anime movie from over 25 years ago? |
| I found about this animation when Haruko did that "DAICON V" parody scene in FLCL. It seems they did it with low quality materials and equipment, cuz they lacked the budget. Takes a lotta talent to come up with this under those conditions :P |
