I just finished watching season 2 in it’s entirety and I’ve come to realize I’ve basically watched an entire season of filler. I pretty much expect retro anime with lots of episodes to have a lot of filler, but Tsubasa Chronicle 2nd Season made it so much worse with that infuriating ending that made it clear that this show was never going to conclude even if the studio decided to try finishing the story. It’s a shame because I really enjoyed the whole concept of the show and I would have loved it if it actually reached some sort of conclusion. This was a series that never wanted to end but never will again get a sequel, and that’s why watching this show was a giant waste of time.

Yep, it’s been a while but I remember feeling exactly this way. I liked the characters a lot, there were some interesting setups but uninteresting execution for the most point, tons of filler-feeling material. A shame.

If I remember correctly, the studio didn't want to continue in the story's original direction because they claimed to only work on family friendly anime. Don't remember where I heard that. Anyway, the tokyo revelations ova directly follows season 1. I HIGHLY recommend the manga series, it's one of my favorites.

Tsubasa Chronicle is pretty tame, at least on modern anime standards, so I doubt that it would be dropped if Bee Train wanted to go more family friendly. The seemingly endless amount of feathers that needed to be recovered is what probably made the studio want to move on. However, I'm surprised that Production I.G didn't continue the franchise after Bee Train stopped operating since they've worked on the "movies" (If you want to call 30 minute episodes movies) and xxxHOLiC. Plus, Production I.G is one of the few studios that seem committed to at least work on multiple seasons on shows that they're involved with no matter what.

That would also make a lot of sense. Maybe what I saw was speculation. As much as I find that just an excuse, it does have a few pretty dark things that I don't think kids would enjoy seeing, so maybe it was a combination of both? Obviously it was popular enough to get another season, so if the content sold, they shouldn't have sneezed at the feathers like that. Personal opinion.
