From my understanding, shoko dying in that one timeline erases the entire event from taking place.

Despite Sakuta never meeting Shoko, everything with Mai still happens because suspension of disbelief and fate.
For plot convenience, the Mai in this timeline does a movie about heart disease or somethin to raise awareness, so new timeline Shoko has a donor and there is never a reason for her to create her future self.

It’s a mix of things that make sense and the show banking on the viewer taking the events at face value. This show does a lot of “make it sound like science so they accept it just is” so it doesn’t bother me much.

I hope that made sense

The newer novel/s are recently releasing in the u.s.

My guess is the author will either wait to have enough material for a full new season or we’ll continue to get movies.
Either way I do believe they’ll continue the story in a video format but probably not for a while.

The only reason we don’t have a season 2 is because there isn’t enough source material, but there should be an announcement of some kind next year.

To make it simple, at the first Sakuta has to choose between Shouko or Mai. If Sakuta choose Shouko, Mai died. If Sakuta choose Mai, Shouko died.

Now how to save them both? Sakuta decide to travel far back to save Shouko when she’s in the elementary school, she can’t fill the future goals form that makes her having the heart disease. It doesn’t showed in the anime but what happen is Sakuta helping Shouko to not be depressed about her future and now she is able to fill that future goals form. At last, at the present time now that Shouko doesn’t have the heart disease. Both alive in the end.

And to answer your question “how sakuta and mai restart the things???”, as i remember, Mai doesn't come with Sakuta to change the past. It was Sakuta who have the ability to time travel when he close his eyes or simply just by sleeping. The ability he got from Shouko.

Shouko doesn’t die, she goes back to sleep.

After Sakuta said goodbye to Shouko near the intersection, she disappeared, passing all of her memories on to her younger self.
After Sakuta decides to choose Mai’s happiness over Shouko, He and Mai decide that they are both willing to start over from scratch if it gives Shouko a chance to live, but they don’t know how to actually do that.
Shouko then, having just woken up with all the memories of all of her selves, realizes that Sakuta’s life would have less pain if he had never met her, and so she goes back to sleep, projecting herself back to elementary school, and lives from there without indecision, finishing her “future dreams” assignment happily. From there she takes Hayate straight home from the park instead of waiting around and meeting Sakuta, therefore removing herself and her problems from his life, but also never jumping back from high school and meeting him on the beach.
That was important for him to come to terms with Kaede’s situation so it would be bad if it never happened, but luckily the nature of this form of time travel sends out fragments of the future being changed, to those affected, in the form of dreams.
Sakuta meets high school Shouko on the beach in his dreams and learns the same lessons from her, and Mai’s vague recollection of the previous timeline manifests in a smaller way, urging her to play the main role in a movie about heart disease, and since *THE Sakurajima Mai* played the main role, lots of people went to see it, and were persuaded to pick up organ donor cards.
More people with organ donor cards meant more chances for Shouko to get a transplant, which she does, which leads us to the final scene.

TL;DR Sakuta and Mai don’t go back to fix stuff, Shouko does.

I've read some of the comments but I haven't seen anyone that interpreted it as mine so here's my interpretation. Everything that's going on in the series (up until the end of the movie) is actually all simulation in kid Shoko's mind (I guess the mechanic is just like the one in Koga's Laplace Demon arc). The thing is, because of "quantum entanglement", that simulation is also entangled with other people's conscience, so when Shoko reset everything (she didn't actually died), in one way or another, some of the memories from the simulation still remains in other characters. As you can see in the epilogue (epilogue happened in real real life by the way), Sakuta suddenly donated to charity, Mai doing the movie, it's all because the remaining memories from the simulation, and at the very end, Sakuta actually remember Shoko even though they never really deliberately interact in real life because of that simulation before

Is what you said based off of legit and trustable source? Cause a lot of people seems to have their own interpretation.
Pls I hope someone replies with legit source cause that's the only thing I don't get is the events after Shoko fell asleep.
