I was thinking that too but I have seen it before where a movie comes out but it’s not really continuing from the season it’s kinda places at an earlier part of the series so I wanted to ask other people to see if it was true. It makes way more sense though being set after season 3.

After seeing the trailer, it is certainly gonna be after season 3 events. Since apparently it will be around the middle school graduation.

my feeling is they didn't think the franchise was successful enough to get a 4th season and negotiated up front for a movie to give the series a satisfactory conclusion. The manga's still running I think, so it's probably a mostly original ending. It seems like especially with season 3 they added more of a 'plot' as it were than the manga generally has, with an eye towards resolving the romance. but I'm just wildly speculating, I dunno.

So what it seems like is that it's probably going to cover everything after White Day until graduation, probably with a heavy focus on their summer break.

I initially thought the movie was gonna revolve around what happened after Nishikata grabbed Takagi's hand at the fireworks festival. But now, seeing how much went on during season 3, I hope that's not the case.

My ideal movie plot would be a confession quite close to the start, graduation, maybe some more overtly romantic high school/college scenes, and then ending with Nishikata's proposal, with the whole thing serving as a segue into a Moto anime series, hell, if we see the entire thing was in fact a story that Takagi was telling Chi, that'd be even better.

i definitely want something like that to happen it’d be so cool. The manga didn’t really have a definitive ending or a start point for motto so I’d lose it if we get exactly that through an anime original ending that segways into the manga. I’m super hyped for the movie now.

Hopefully the movie is not the end of their story.
I'd love if the movie was just after they held hands and showed a change in behaviour from the boy(sorry, bad with names) so he starts to accept her as more than a friend but not yet as a lover(i'd leave that for another season 2-3 years after the events of S3) and her keeping her good nature and helping him mature.

yesssss🤩🤩 I'm really looking forward to this movie...... in love with the vibes already.... if it's a continuation of S3 then it would be so freaking adorable..... also I like how they Pet the cat as if it's their own 🤩😍
