The blue-haired girl or Lena is an Alba that was appointed to be the major of the Spearhead squadron that fight in 86. Unlike her people and colleagues, Lena doesn't think of the 86 soldiers as machines, but as humans with lives that are lost everyday because of war. Therefore, she tries to help them out as much as she can because they're not replaceable as the Republic acts they are. She also uses the PARA-raid to communicate and chat with them every night and connect with them, but also to show that she cares about them and acknowledges them as humans with memories and stories to tell.

OK I understand the s1 but now i am in s2 3 episodes in, the other side, Empire of Giad it doesn't seem like they are fighting the Republic. Are they fighting the Legions that isn't suppose to be on their side? Legion went rouge? character we see in Empire of Giad are the same people who order the legion to attack?

No. The Empire created the Legion.

The Republic of Giad USED to be the Empire, until they led a rebellion and created the Republic in it’s place. They cannot control the Legion and also get attacked by them.

Frederica is the last remaining of the previous royal family of the Empire. Because she’s so young, they took pity on her and only pretended to kill her in the rebellion. So the general public thinks she is dead, but the president kept her alive and takes care of her.

It’s also what caused Kiriya to go insane and become a Legion. He assumed Frederica was killed, and he had nothing else to live for so he willingly gave himself up to Legion and became a Legion Shepherd.
