Is the sub written deferently compared to the dub?

I was just curious about this since ive only seen it dub. But when I rewatched anime like yugioh gx I suprised how different the anime was with its writing. Just wandering if it was a similar case to new vestoria?

honestly I've never considered watching it in sub but I very much doubt you're gonna run into a ghost stories/sailor moon deal where the writing is night and day.

After looking at some fan sub translations of the Japanese dub, I can confidently say that the English Dub took the liberty of changing some of the dialogue to cater towards the western audience much like 4Kids did to Yugioh. And I think it somewhat worked at the time but it would be interesting to see a more accurate translation with the original background music.
