| AT the end, it seems Tensura is going to do the ´´SAO Ordinal Scale´´ treatment: An original plot written by the LN author to be the core of the movie. And tecnically its possible to do this after the second season since there is a 1 month timeskip until the next arc . Besides this give time to the manga to write more content to be adapted in Season 3. Consider this to be Canon for the Anime, but not for the Novels. Maybe in the future, Fuse can write an extra volume or manga about the movie plot and incorporate in LN canon. |
| I'm confused by this. Who is the girl casting magic and why does Benimaru suddenly have an older brother? I don't mind a non-canon movie with stuff like this. It's interesting and fun and if it's not canon they can do whatever they want with it. But if this is Canon I'll be disappointed. The image of big brother Benimaru becomes little brother Benimaru, and little brother Benimaru will be infinitely stronger than big bro which causes a weird relationship/dynamic. There's also the issue of having to restructure the entire story from this point onwards. Creating story lines for the character and building his relationships with everyone else. Not canon? I can't wait for this!! Canon? Very disappointed..... |

| looks like theyre not adapting the rest of volume 7 of the LN, i say its a good thing dont want them to rush it lets wait for s3 hopefully in 2023 |

There a reason that anime content cant be ahead of manga, and that is because Kodansha (manga publisher) is putting their hands in anime production. The manga version gives them a lot of money, so if the anime surpsses it, sales will decrease. They wont produce anime until have more manga content, and this movie is an excuse to not wait the audience for some Slime content, althought this original and written by LN author, and gives more money since its so much popular in Japan. |
| I'm excited to see S3 announcement more than the movie itself , hopefully we'll get something after the movie , and that the production will begin after the Movie so that we might get it in Fall 2023 or sometime in 2024 which is most likely considering the production phase . |

It's super disappointing because I was looking forward to an adaptation of vol. 7. Yeah, I'm thinking because Bandai logo popped up that this movie is to introduce game characters and is not part of the canonical Slime universe. It's just bonus content to keep us happy until S3 gets animated. |

Assuming that the movie is taking the path of the ending of Season 2. Anime: At the final scenes of Season 2, aparently they are showing that Diablo is arriving to Falmuth at the same time Rimuru returns to Tempest, something that differs a little with LN Volume 7 content, and thats what the movie story is written for. Light Novel: Its true that Fuse is writting the movie story, but is going to be canon only with the anime due to LN situation that there is no idea where to fit the movie, unless like i said its between the 1 month timeskip if Fuse decides or something. This is what i get from the Season 2 and the movie teaser, there will be more details in the next months, hopefully these doubts will be resolved. |
| @Surmount "the movie is only canon to the anime counterpart" well, for example the part when rimuru is tearing up, crying due to shizu's death is only canon to the manga counterpart in LN, rimuru never shed any tear when shizu is ded also, veldora's slime observation journal is only canon to the manga counterpart. there are some inconsistencies compared to things that happen in the LN, but fuse says "dont mind it" another example, everything that happens in the Web Novel is only canon to the Web novel counterpart lol hopefully fuse would be able to do the anime timeline justice |
