This episode was a huge step up from last week's episode, which really shows how important it is for a Lupin episode to focus on at least one of the core cast, unlike last episode which focused on two side characters. The core cast really does make the show.

A great thing about Lupin is that it knows that it gets repetitive at times and once in a while shakes up the formula to have us expect the twist and then surprise us with another twist. This season has done that a few times already and it did it again this episode. We all knew that Amelia was going to betray Fujiko to the guy who was obviously Greyson from the flashback, and she did, which would have served Fujiko right for all the times that she has betrayed Lupin and ruined his plans in the past. But right when you think that Fujiko saw through it and asked Lupin and the gang to follow them and intervene, Amelia instead betrayed Greyson instead, which was all part of the plan that she and Fujiko planned out beforehand. It was brilliantly done.

A weird part at the end was Amelia showing Fujiko her baby. So did a year or two already pass in the season, or is it just unrelated to the main season's plot progression? If a year of time did in fact pass before the next episode, it would be pretty interesting to see how they explain the timeline in the main story. Though perhaps they just skipped ahead in the story just for that part.

This episode again had a great soundtrack and finally highlighted the best track of the whole season, Foggy Love, which was included in the first cour's soundtrack.

I really hope the rest of the episodes can keep up this level of enjoyment and stick with what Lupin is best at, which is portraying the iconic Lupin characters.

A typical Fujiko episode except I wasn't expecting Amelia to be pregnant. Who's the father? Having Foggy Love played in this episode was a nice touch.

You could see the double-cross coming from a mile way. A shame, Fujiko definitely would've deserved to be on the receiving end of some merciless betrayal for once after all the numbers she did on Lupin in the past xD

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

I always wondered if Fujiko is even capable of having a truly, platonic friendship. In the past, the only people she seemed to have feelings for were always just lovers. While the other gang members have always had not-sexual friends outside of the protagonists.

I find it quite sexist

I don't think she is fully capable of it after so long being mainly focused on treasures and on manipulating people with her charms, but I do think that her relationship with Amelia is as close as she can get. That being said, I don't even think she is capable of a true non-platonic relationship. In fact, she is probably more reliable as a friend than as a lover. She backstabs her lover Lupin all the time but doesn't backstab Amelia. Despite the vague innuendos that some people are pointing towards in this episode, her relationship with Amelia seems way more platonic than it does non-platonic.

Yep. I'm watching Lupin from the '79 (yep I'm that old) and this is literally the first time I've seen Fujiko with someone vaguely similar to a (platonic) friend. Probably this episode passed the Bechdel test too! :P

I think the authors simply wanted to keep up with the times: "See? Even money-grabber back-stabber bomb-shells can have friends!"

I think it happened several times...for example in Lupin III Part 4 episode 5.

Googling... Uhmm, It doesn't seem like a true egalitarian friendship to me. On his part there is unrequited love, on her part at most a pinch of pity for him. She has been capable of acts of kindness in the past, she is not a completely amoral person. But a friendship is a different thing.

She was using that boy the entire time to sell him for a profit. Additionally, it can be argued that she only did that to spite Lupin after his "marriage" with Rebecca.

@Zaku71

Yeah, but at the end she actually liked him which demonstrated that she is capable of such feelings.

Also I kind of remember her having something similar thing with an assassin dude (who wanted to quit?)...not sure in which part it happened.

As I said, She's not a sociopath or an amoral person. She really can like someone or do something for kindness (Not very often). But have we ever met a "friend" (in the Platonic sense of the word)? We only met

1) Lovers
2) Accomplices
3) People whom she exploits and whom she sometimes takes a liking to

But never someone we can call "a true friend".

damn this was an awful episode. If it aired any earlier I might've even dropped this series

What did you not like about it? Was it this particular episode's storyline or was it something else?

it was terribly generic and the one-off character hardly fit either fujiko or the franchise.

Not one of the strongest one off episodes but overall preety decent, I thought Amelia was likeable enough and the plot was rather typical but fun. I wish they'd emphasized a bit more on the conflicting personalities of Fujiko and Amelia but overall it was a typical fun episode. Nothing more nothing less.
