I wish I could access my old account and delete that bad thread. Also thanks to guys like ZeroEnigma for countering my lameness. Accepting Geist as something badassly somber, unpolished but interesting made it work. Ohata being a 23yo beginner makes it better. For every "wtf happened here" moment there's some really great stuff a more conservative experienced director wouldn't do. Like Crutes epic entry in the power armor being seen through a window and taking up maybe 15% of the frame, and the seemingly "wrong" but still very impacting way it cuts when when Black Hulk Hogan does his (futile) attack right before Geist picks up his knife and

Story's not bad at all, just the most barebones & thus purest way of getting across the tale of an insane soldier who's always existed purely as a killing machine & only finds meaning through seeking deadly combat, logically completely unsympathetic but psychotically badass.
