So im just wondering if Hajime ever explains what actually happend to him down in the dungeon (powers/physical changes) to Kaori/Shizuku and the rest?

Not looking for a complete explanation of when and where, just a simple answer will be fine.

He doesn't really tell them but while they are making an artifact his memories are transferred to the entire class and they legit FEEL his pain

Unrelated. Why does he sound less edgy and more normal in this season?

No. As said, his enemy is God. In the most literal sense.

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Yes. After the events of the final dungeon. He didn’t tell them per sé but they did find out (Along with Shea and Tio) what he went through.
Regarding the other question from the other person “Is Hajime the main villain?”.
No, Hajime and his classmates are “The saviors”, the True antagonist is the one The Liberators wanted to defeat. We learn his identity almost at the end of the story though (Almost at the time the OP’s question’s events occurred.

As the story goes on, he slowly gets pieces back of his old gentler self, while still retaining his 'reborn' self, or at least the kill or be killed mentality of it. He did almost go past the point of no return (mentally) if it wasn't for running into Yue in the first labyrinth after all.

He doesn't directly tell them, but in volume 10, while Hajime and Yue are creating an artifact, his group and the Hero's group get to see his memories and feel his emotions from when he first fell into the abyss. It was a great moment.
