She forces her kink onto her boyfriend and we all know he won't say no, because he likes and wants to make Hori happy, even though its perfectly clear he's uncomfortable with it.

If he talks to another girl, she goes pyscho crazy and thinks he is cheating on her. I get being curious, but how can you have a relationship if you can't try to put some trust in your partner? Or try to talk it out? She has to go stalker mode.

Also the fact that hori said if they broke up, Miyamura can't date a man, he has to date a woman.... it's just her whole character is like someone trying to make a badass female character but she comes across as controlling and toxic.

I totally agree tbh, it really put me off to know that even though it was such a big romance anime, that the relationship itself isn't very healthy or ideal. Like their relationship seems more forced than anything and I feel as if they easily could have just made it a SOL where they weren't romantically involved and it would have been better xD

She's super insecure and doesn't feel like her crush/life of him is enough, but that doesn't justify like you said, low key homophobia, blatant jealousy over literally anyone else talking to him- it ain't a good fit for her, and if she's that worried she needs to work on herself.

Sasaki and Miyano are nothing like that, and most of the manga is a slow burn of them getting to know one another's interests naturally and liking each other as people beforehand! It's a really healthy relationship and explores how romance can be portrayed in a new way!

I agree completely.

Horimiya is pretty toxic, especially hori. This couple is a lot more sweeter and wholesome lol

I'm sure you know where your profile pic is from, I'm assuming that couple is immeasurable more toxic than anyone in horimiya, according to your metric, right?
someone else in the fourm pointed that out, but the anime was wholesome in my opinion. Apparently the manga was a lot worse and toxic and they cut that out of the anime. I haven't touched the manga though, so I'm just going by the anime.

Well, that hair choice is the usual even in non-romance mangas and animes (also in donghuas, manhuas, manhwas)...
This anime/manga (nor Horimiya I guess) is the only one to combine the couple's names...
Horimiya and this story aren't the only romance stories...

The plot (except the genre being romance) and the characters' characteristics (except for one of the main character being an otaku, which isn't exclusive to Horimiya either) are very different as well. Even the topics touched on aren't the same: Horimiya is more progressive. Age, lenght, demographic, serious-ness, side-character's importance, dynamic between couples and between friends, writting, art style, genders, personalities, struggles, etc... there are way too more differences than similarities, my dude.

Ow yeah, I looked at the manga to see how it was like and it just started out with rape directly, it was horrible, really. I can't deny that the anime is less toxic than the manga, but it is toxic nonetheless. And a lot more than horimiya, since horimiya is not toxic at all, imo

As someone who has read both "Horimiya" and "Sasaki and Miyano", they both have different themes and character types.

"Horimiya" explores the hidden sides of the main couple. Hori is a popular girl, who's actually kinda a housewife and cares about her little brother. Miyamura looks like an otaku nerd, but he's actually kinda of a bad boy with piercings and tattoos. They come together as they discover these hidden sides of each other and open up at school.

Meanwhile, "Sasaki and Miyano" is more of an exploration of the BL subculture and tropes. The main couple come together while reading BL manga. Two of the secondary characters have fujoshi girlfriends. Miyano enjoys BL manga, while claiming that "he's not like that". The manga explores the "stigma" of being a BL fan, especially as a fudanshi.

I think that if you like one manga, you'll probably like the other. Since, they are both character-driven, romance-comedy manga about high schoolers. But I think they are different enough that you can't really claim one is "gay Horimiya".

I guess it has the same feeling of realism Horimiya has but other than that I wouldn't say they're anything alike. The relationship between both series' protagonists are quite different and Horimiya explores the relationships of side characters as well. Regardless, from the surface "gay horimiya" is a selling point for the show and the yaoi gospel shall be spread, so keep it up 👍

Hopefully there won't be any weird bdsm
It's based off a shounen ai not a yaoi so there shouldn't be anything like that.

perhaps romance isn't your thing then? Though I didn't like horimiya in the slightest.

No I actually love romance "Horimiya" introduced a lot of things I absolutely loved:
The male MC's rebel tendencies. Him accepting Hori's fetish, his interactions with Hori's brother. Stealing Hori's candy.
The female MC regretting being a bully. Marking her territory and her love of horror films.
There isn't much I didn't like in that anime, maybe the only thing was I was hoping for either a little more drama in terms of family or a fight with some punks or former classmates. Neither happened so I thought maybe the characters didn't need any additional layers.

I don't really remembering him accepting the fetish, more like he was uncomfortable and the show played it off as comedy. I also didnt like how controlling Hori was. I didn't like the show, used to love it when I was a teenager but its aged badly imho

Didn't it air just last year? So you were 19 and liked it, in 2021. Now you are 20 and you dislike it? Or am I missing something.

I read the manga when I was around 16/17, but watching the anime, my perspective changed.
