Sakura no Uta -Sakura no Mori no Ue o Mau- // サクラノ詩-櫻の森の上を舞う- What is Mind? No Matter. What is Matter? Never Mind A story full of mystery and fantastic elements, it also has some incredibly well-constructed three-dimensional characters (like Musashi from Vagabond or Guts from Berserk) which will be very easy for you to see them as real people. With such well-made characters and the endless interactions that there can be, it is impossible for one to get bored reading this (at least starting from the "true story"). Here are some brief impressions of each route: Rin I played this route first, mainly because of my great curiosity about the protagonist's past because it is those that fall quite well and it does surprise me, it has a very good and heavy drama of those that make you read non-stop. We will also meet the character that most of you will want to kill in the slowest and most painful way as possible, seriously. Makoto In this route we will be able to observe how some of the aspects of Rin's route allude to this route as well, so I highly recommend playing Rin's route first. The drama is somewhat lighter if we compare it with the previous route but it is still not bad. They play a lot with the contrast of Makoto's personalities, something that I honestly liked a lot. Well, if you came this far, let me congratulate you, the 2 most boring routes have finished, from now on, the real story begins. Rina and Yuumi After finishing the 2 routes above, the choices for the first year's student will be unlocked. The plot of this route is definetly one of the best, since it deals with issues such as homosexuality with a neatness that I have rarely seen in the medium in general, not only in the VNs genre. It has a particular way of telling the story from different perspectives, something that I loved, because it helped you to get to know them in a deeper level. Shizuku The route with which I have laughed the most (especially with “Wataaru Akkashi”) and which is probably my favorite route. The plot here is without a doubt one of the most juicy ones, even more than the first-year's route, because it reveals such shocking information from the past of some characters that you simply can't help but see them with completely different eyes. IV Appears on the menu after completing the 4 routes above. I do not know if I should count it as a route as such, because it is not of any heroine. Between this route and the previous one, we will be able to discover everything that our protagonist's father had to go through in that mysterious past. I'd say it is my 2nd favourite route, because it is very harsh when it has to be and with that impressive story, it is impossible not to be satisfied. V And finally Ai's route! Or so I would like to say but it depends on the choice you make. Although it is rather a route for our protagonist, since the events that occur are mostly directed to him. I also have to praise that the author has the balls to make the things happen, because when the story gets dramatic, it gets REALLY dramatic. Ai's route is there to get rid of the sex scene and little else, the other route is the interesting one, the one that will have some good moments of philosophical reflexion and with which this story will continue. VI This is basically the future where our protagonist ends up single. Personally, I have found it fascinating, because it is tremendously realistic and offers us a very crude vision of what being an adult truly means, a perfect closure for this incredible story. In general, I'd say that the main attraction of this vn is its drama, more or less intense in some routes than in others but it is always present. A story that, although it contains fantastic elements, has a solid argument so that one can accept everything that happens with relative ease. Another point that quite attracts my attention is its great philosophical charge, it deals with topics such as what being a true genius means or what is the art. I must say that I barely have some knowledge those fields but it was quite easy for me to understand and assimilate so it's an aspect that I really enjoyed. Also, I love OST. The only things I didn't understand anything were the poems, I suppose it is logical since they are translated from Japanese, it must be difficult to grasp the meaning of these during the translation. In addition, the fact that you are forced to play the routes in a certain order is not by mere whim of the author, it is so that the story progresses in such a way that you can draw together the threads by yourself. It does not really have negative points, the only one I could point out, although it does not bother me very much, would be that when you are on a route, the other characters disappear from the map, as if they did not exist anymore. Sometimes, you may ask "what if this character was there". But I repeat, it does not bother me much, because it has to be really complicated to make sure that the conflicts of some characters do not interfere with those of others in the same timeline, and being so many, I think they have done it very well. The soundtrack is not that impressive, but some of them enters in a perfect moment and greatly accentuate the emotion of that moment, so I don't have many complaints, it has a good repertory. As for the drawing, they generally have a good quality except for a few ones, but the paintings that they show us, although I don't understand much about art, I must say that they are quite impressive (I don't know if they all exist irl though). You can see that they put a lot of effort in the images that really matters, so in the technical section they also left me quite satisfied. 10/10, currently my favourite visual novel. |
