yes silent voice isn't romance, it's more to drama and life story, just look it up, there's no romance genre in this anime, and I also think this anime didn't offer romance, sure you can say it contain a bit romance if that's what you think, but stil this isn't romance anime

just bcs the main character and the main heroine have close relationship, doesn't mean it's romance. Their relationship is beautiful, the journey is so meaningful, even, but it's not for romantic purpose, you can ship them if you want or whatever, but you can't force it to be romance bcs it's not. If you see their whole relationship is just romantic couple, then I can say you're entirely wrong. (I haven't read the manga so idk what happened there, I'm talking abt the anime only)

It wasn't even really romance (they don't get together at the end) but I agree it's one of the most meaningful and emotional anime and one of my favorites ever. I'm a huge fan of romance and can only guess that they eventually get together and live happily ever after but it's much more than that.
