I Got a question for y'all that's been bugging me
When hikigaya met yukinon at the lobby of motel/hotel. What did yukinon mean when she told him "it's all because of what you did at the cultural festival" ? What did he do? I mean... he did a lot. But which incident is she referring to?

From what I remember in that scene, Yukino told Hachiman she left her room cos they were talking about crushes. The cultural festival event she's talking about is most likely that scene where he was talking smack about the red hair girl's (forgot her name) lack of effort and forcing someone else (Yukino) to do the work for her.

I'm guessing some of the girl's who were there slightly understood what was going on there and were pestering Yukino about their relationship.

She is referring to the incident in the roof, where Hachiman scolded Sagami(The red haired girl). Yukinoshita's classmates probably started talking about her because she knew Hachiman, who was now percieved as the moron who said cruel things to Sagami.

But he didn't mention names. And he said he was the one doing work that's not his. Plus. They chose 2 student from each class(a boy and a girl) to serve in the committee. So how would the girls from her class have known about that incident and how he stood up for her?

ah yes that makes sense. Reading the above comments I must be wrong about the incident. It has to be the rooftop scene thag got them talking. The two girls with Sagami (red head) spread the info about what he did. It doesn't take much to figure out that he possibly was doing this for Yukino. Take the incident I originally mentioned and add that to the rooftop one. The girl from their class in the committee probably brought up that incident too when they were gossiping.

Hachiman may have said he was doing it for himself, but his actions speak for themselves. Its totally possible for people to see through his lies. People aren't as stupid and superficially blind as he thinks.

OH.Makes Sense. Thanks
I love that about the show too. And I love how every episode makes my brain spiral and give me deep questions and stuff. Thank God for this forum
Ps: what was the right way tho? Was there really another way to get her off the roof and close the ceremony?(except giving her undeserved compliments)

when a person gets all that they wanted and even other's complement them still act like nothing going their way that's means they want people revolving around their fingers and want their sympathy even if the reason for what they are giving sympathy is fake, so the way hiki used was the only way, if he didn't shit talk her they wouldn't have got the chance to take her down away from him, he turned himself into a villain, it's hard to explain but ya human are complicated

See? There was no other way. THANK YOU. Sometimes the right way isn't the good way. Or vice-versa

@Rayane-47 well the thing is the girl was playing victim card and puting all work on yukino and he pointed out it too brutally becouse she didnt wanted to say speech and and cry for sympathy playing victim card for whole festival arc she pushed her work on yukino and he pointed out in the slogan scene as serious sarcasm and only yukino understand and find it funny becouse no one understands what he pointed out except her
