If it was Yaoi it would have the tag. It does not have the tag.

So its just in the heads of some people.

no, it doesn’t primarily focus on a gay relationship, but one of the male characters does come to like another male character

Nope. Some of the main characters are definitely queercoded, but nothing is canon.

Sk8 is jouseimuke (media aimed towards women). It has some BL-ish elements, but it's not likely to go full hog into committing to the BL genre lmao. As an actual fujo, I'd say Sk8 is just BL for people who don't want to say they like BL (stuff, like Ensemble Stars, Kuroko no Basuke, Free Iwatobi Swim Club, etc).

Tbh imo if you want BL, just read actual BL hahaha. It's exhausting to look for small little possible BL moments in non-BL content bc they never commit to it and it always just feels unsatisfying.

From an old lady fujo, here's some recommendations for BL manga for baby fujos/fudans/fujins lmaoz:

- Ganbare Nakamurakun by Syundei
- Konbini kun by Junko
- Doukyuusei by Asumiko Nakamura
- Oh! My Assistant by Milla
- Cherry Magic by Yuu Toyota (this one has a drama. It's very cute! 💖)

These are just some of my personal recommendations if you want sweet, wholesome relationships like Reki/Langa but there's a whole world of ACTUAL BL content out there for you to explore~! (人*´∀`)。*゚+

First of all bl and yaoi are different (talkin to the first reply) but no, it s not bl. But it s HEAVILY implied, especially if you look outside the anime too. I suspect its a case of censorship so they cant actually show anythin concrete.

Yeah,if you want pure "they kiss" bl this isnt for you, but it s such a good anime and you ll grow to love their relationship anyway, even if you see them as friends. Plus, the supporting cast is really good too.

There was no indication of any homosexual relationship.
But still, Adam gave off serious gay vibes.

nope. even if the main characters get together it will not be one since that won’t be the focus of the show. there are other animes where the main characters date but that doesn’t make the show a romance.

Bl is constantly hinted at for fanservice reasons but never actually explored. The only canonically gay character is the main villain who preys on teenage boys.

this isn’t a BL, how i see this anime is just a bunch of queer baiting. i know there was a scene towards the end and the way it was set up, i genuinely thought that reki and langa would kiss. not to mention the scene where langa is eating dinner with his mom and langa confirms that he does in fact like reki, whether it was platonic or not, it definitley doesn’t look platonic. he was even blushing? ahahah this show frustrated me in that aspect. because the main genre didn’t have to be BL, i thought the story itself was good. but i think that if you’re going to add these characters and queer code them you may as well go all the way with it instead of leaving fans unsatisfied.

Ok so to answer your question no it's not a BL because the main focus of the show it's not romance, although if you look into it renga(rekixlanga) is painfully Canon, I could literally say 100 reasons why it's Canon but I'm gonna stick with the most basic ones, so reki and langa "value, and share the fellings towards one another deep in their hearts" words by the director. The director also said this "I don't think he's the type to be attracted by looks(talking about langa), even with Reki, he didn't think" reki is amazing" right from the start, it was only after having spent time with him and learned who he was on the inside" meaning langa is attracted to Reki, also the fact that they only feel ecstasy when skating with each other, the official art is so obvious and the Cindereki drama CD where Reki dreamed about him being Cinderella and Langa being the prince, again those are just some reasons of course there's more. Now machablossom(cherryxjoe) is implied but never really addressed so it's not considered Canon and finally AdamxTadashi(snake) is not romantically Canon but the pet play is Canon, I hope that helped you and everyone who has the same doubt as you.

Nope. He skates with those boys because they want to sk8 against him. Not Adam's fault.

and Tadashi loves his master. 😩 sk8 not Str8

Plus Renga is semi canon.

yeah I totally forgot about that and I read somewhere that Joe also had a crush on Adam so I searched it up and the director said this "And of course they come to admire(talking about cherry and joe), and even get attracted, to Adam's brilliance and charisma. In the episode, it seems like it was only Cherry who got attracted, but actually Joe did too."

Keep in mind that, although times have changed in Japan, there are still some who won’t be keen to explicitly tag ‘BL’ as one of the sub-genres of the anime. But, simply speaking, some things conveyed in the anime imply a relationship that’d just be weird if it were between friends (e.g. Reki and Langa)- but I’m not confirming anything until there’s more of an advancement in any of the relationships for me to assume so.

I don't get why people are straight up trying to deny this when it's coded so hard into the series it hurts sometimes hahahaha.

None of the couple's are canon, it's definitely not officially BL but if u say it's just shippers or fully in people heads, I think you're missing a whole bunch of the subtext.

The main antagonist character is absolutely gay, his pining for Langa is undoubtable. I think one of the main selling points of the series is the shipping aspect of the characters. None of the characters kiss or anything but it's so painfully close to being BL that u wonder why they couldn't just go the whole way

Not tagged as BL, but def has so much subtext in it, and it isn't "explicit" in the "they say 'ily pls go out with me'" way, but if you like BL, you'll def enjoy it.

The bond is pretty strong between the characters.

At any rate, it'll be impossible for such a show to be this backed up by producers if it *were* actually labled as BL.

I would like to mention that the English VA for Cherry is gay and said that he sees Cherry as a gay man, and the VA for Joe is bi and he believes Joe is bi. They both said they try to show that through their voice acting. See here from 5:02-6:07: Source (Youtube Video) Anyhow, I think it's up to the viewer to interpret as they wish; there isn't really anything that explicitly shows romantic attraction between the characters. It could be seen as that, or they could just be really good bros.
