Should I drop this?

So basically, I’ve watched 17 episodes and it’s not like I fully dislike it but… The last few episodes weren’t funny at all. There is usually 1 gag per episode that’s funny for me while the rest of it feels a bit forced but still surreal and somewhat interesting. The main reason why I feel the way I do now is Hakase, the professor. She’s honestly ruining the show for me. That whole joke with Nano not wanting anyone to know about her being a robot is getting pretty stale too. I am enjoying this show somewhat. I just don’t like bratty behaviour or endless jokes that don’t get funnier with time. At some points I even considered this show a solid 8/10 but now I seriously don’t know if I should continue watching. Does it get better? Does hakase ever stop being so frustratingly annoying? Will there be any hilarious sketches like the one with the principal wrestling a deer?

It doesn't really change. I personally love the show all the way through, but it is pretty much the same the entire time. The same running gags continue, the tone is the same.

to be honest if your this far and you dislike it
you probably should drop it

but then again you are very close to ending it, and you also don’t hate it

so if every once in a while you are feeling down or bored

watch an episode or two

Once you start thinking about whether to drop a show. That usually means you’ve had enough of it. Also are you binging a bunch of episodes in a day? Then it would be better to watch 1 episode a day instead. I usually watch 1 episode a day of a series, and usually find enjoyment out of them even if it is something that I didn’t previously enjoy.

Sounds like purely comedy-themed anime aren't for you. From your favourites, I can tell you also aren't the kind of person who only finds shounen cliché "humour" funny, so my only guess is that you just... don't watch anime to laugh.

comedy is very subjective, but i think you should since imo nichijou is one of the best comedy

Damn. I mean yeah I really like dark and/or emotional anime but at the same time I loved Grand Blue and Saiki K so that’s not really it. And some nichijou episodes were a 9/10 for me it’s just that there is such an emphasis on Hakase, aka the most annoying character ever that I was close to dropping it for that reason alone

Personally I liked the series a lot, I can totally see if it’s not your thing though. It’s a good wholesome, not high stakes at all, fun anime that’s perfect to put on when you just kind of want to relax, or take a break from more intense thought provoking anime’s.

I would say you're possibly just going through it too fast. Take a break for a While. These kinds of shows are definitely best watched incrementally.

Gotta agree. Usually I’ll watch a drama or more serious show and use SoL or comedy anime to de-stress from the other show. I can binge some of these shows, but with a show as chaotic as Nichijou it’s better to do it incrementally.

I am trying to make the same decision too, but I am only on episode 9. You saying that the kid scientist gets worse has me extremely worried because she is probably the worst character in the show already. Nichijou has the same problem with Nano that K-on has with Mio where they bully her too much, but it is never funny. It makes me dislike Nano's appearances because she is always a part of bad scenes. This show is too Japanese and too bizarre to keep my interest for long, and the comedy falls flat much more often then making me laugh. I like the art of the show especially backgrounds, and actually really liked the first episode. After a while the absurdity gets old, and I think I am going to drop it myself.
