I love how cautious she is about the difference in attitudes of men and women towards writing female characters, while I think it was an sad omission that she did not point out that the exact same "laws" apply to writing male characters. We talk so often about ideal female characters in male media and how many male characters are self-insert, but why all this is forgotten when it comes to female media and the attitude towards male or female characters there.

I also found it interesting how she talked into making the plot of the second season more edgy, I have no idea what it might look like with what the rest of the team originally suggested.

Wow, thanks for sharing this article. It’s nice to read what had happened behind the scenes when making key decisions with characters and their storylines.
I love that Fujiyoshi had influence over the way the female characters were written because I had noticed and appreciated their writing this season. It was genuinely refreshing and now it makes sense as to why. Same with the forgiveness aspect. It was different and unpredictable, it also felt much more realistic. Perhaps it could be argued that as a female, I appreciate these things more so than males, but my older brother also noticed and appreciated these things. Great work from Fujiyoshi. I hope she can partake in more projects and help promote talented women within the industry soon.

Glad she was there, as all the changes she made were crucial to the quality of the show. Or else it would've turned out like Ashita no Joe.

There is also a link down there to their July interview, where they discuss socio-political topics in the second season.

Is there a certain website or app to have that mentions such interviews articles or news about manga/ anime and the production or how do you find news because I am really interested to not just see the final result but who or how they made it and what was easy or hard to do

Thx in advance

For starters, I would recommend that you follow Kim Morrissy's content on ANN. He's a pretty good guy who is known for his encyclopedic knowledge of LN and his fandom activities under the nickname Frog-kun.

I find that japanese writers seem very bound about how to write protagonists. At least in modern times. Mostly always self insert, paragon personality which is just a huge borefest really. Female protagonists come in many flavours. Some like the typical male, some more or less evil, and some have fun personalities. Yet males... Mostly just the boring type.

Because males are written for POV, and females as waifus. This is why people mistakenly think that the relationship in yuri is more equal and deep, since both sides are written as waifus.

Well, it is more deep than a empty headed yes man xD

Female main characters are and for the foreseeable future will always be more interesting.

Because female protagonists are also waifus for male audiences. It’s like you were born yesterday and don’t understand how gender appealing work in the media. Also, one can easily argue with "always more interesting". Shonen and seinen are full of non-self-insert male leads.
