Why exactly is Niizuma the most popular character?

I finished the anime and he did not seem to get something that made him more developed or any of the sort than the other characters. Why exactly is he more popular than the main characters?

he is?
If yes then probably because he is funny and acts like an idiot but can also be respectful towards others like when he greeted the chief editor. His personality is pretty good imo.

well i have only 5-6 character as favourite and niizuma is one of them.
Well i also thought the same question in season 1 but till coming to season 3 he was my favourite.
Both mc are also good but they get annoying some time while niizuma was always a delight to watch.
He is always polite to others and respect them,he is funny and motivational.

He is both unique and likable,everyone adore him for who he is and what he do,he didnt have alot of develop bc he is representing the rival trope of shounen that always have the higher hand until the last fight.He just act in a very unique way and it just very entertain to see him on the show

TBH I don't like Niizuma Eiji when I first saw him and thought he would be a dickhead but I was wrong by my first impression about him and by the time goes on I actually like his personality and became one of my favourite character. He has that character that is very likable, he is funny, cool, and genius, that's what I love about him, even liked him more than the mc lmao. (I also like Hiramaru and his editor lmao they are funny)

He's so uniquely himself. Makes sense to me he's most liked. Dudes got a lot of personality and definitely makes bakuman more interesting. I like that his talent inspires the others to do better.
I found myself even imitating him because it was just fun. And he does grow as the anime goes on.
