I've been looking at this anime for a while now and noticed the manga has a high score so I have a question. Does the anime adapt the manga well or is the anime adaptation bad?

the anime adaptation is so good but people scored it less cause of the gore scenes

I think manga is much better and everyone should read it, if you really want to learn things on it. In manga, you get much better information and learn a lot! Gore and drawing are really good. And you get to know the prisoners much better. I’m not saying anime is bad, but manga is much richer. I couldn’t have hoped for better animation and voice actor in it. (although the openings are really bad in my opinion xd )

honestly u can't always translate everything from the manga as you have a lot more colour in anime but honestly Geno studio did an amazing job with really doing some skilled art work for the characters and the background art was splendid. Also I rlly liked the ops😂

Anime is good, but the manga is certainly better. The production quality, while decent, isn’t the best it could be. But as the seasons go on, the quality gets a lot better. Side note, but the comedy feels better in the manga.

i would definitely say the manga is better. the anime has great soundtrack and voice acting but as others pointed out the production values are pretty low (in the art/animation department).

the anime had to skip or rush some less relevant arcs at the start to get to when the plot picks up, so the speed of the anime feels weird. however this IS a fault of the manga itself for having those arcs which are build-up and fluff, so when reading it will take longer to pick up (but the arcs themselves aren't boring by any means, they just lack direction). to compare, the point of the story where plot picks up (in my opinion) is episode 13 of the anime and around chapter 70 of the manga.

i should note that by season 3, the art and animation have drastically improved and the skipping / rushing is way less. i'd say season 3 is as good as the arc of the manga it covers, if not a little better.
