Yeah it was bad, and i loved the first season so much i couldnt wait till the second dropped. I gave the show a 4 mainly because the slideshow ending, thats what triggered me :)

if you didnt read the manga i think its not that bad cuz it just skipped some arcs which actually 60 ch. in the manga while in anime those arcs only show in picture. i gave it 7/10

When I watched it, I too felt that it was good except for that rushed slideshow ending. Later I read the manga, and definitely couldn't accept Season 2 🤧 So many really good parts were left out 😭🤧

same, just the ending was pretty rushed. i never read the manga, but i heard that the ending slideshow thing was over 100 chapters worth of manga. wtf. so yeah the low score is basically just the angry manga readers. and they have every reason to be tbh

N, the thing that made it worse was the disappointment...after that amazing first season, we expected a lot better season than the one we got...

So, it was bad already, and the disappointment made it even worse...

Yeah, the world would be dark without Light...

I'm anime only and I gave s1 a 9, and s2 a 6 or 7. Im not mad about skipped arcs or missing characters, but I feel like all characters other than Emma fell to the wayside and were no longer part of the story.

But that is also true for the manga. The beginning in Grace Field was amazing, then it got progressively worse. They tried to recapture some of the magic of the beginning with the Goldy Pond arc (which I liked), but in the big picture it might as well be filler. I had the feeling when they started the story they had the Grace Field arc planned out and the general world, but not too much about the remaining plot.

Mind you, I haven't seen the second season, but I think even an adaption close to the manga material would've been worse than the first one.

I've read the manga and watched both seasons and imo, the second season isn't terrible if you view it without thinking about the manga. They couldn't possibly have fit everything from the manga into the twelve episodes they had anyway, so imo, the way they did it made it so that they could actually keep character depth and a somewhat decent storyline. If they did what the manga did the depth would be fucked bc there'd have been too many characters

It cut out probably the best arcs of the story, that said if you compare it to the manga, yes it’s bad or at least not as good as season 1.

Although if you’re an anime only, I guess it won’t be as bad. I can’t really say since I’m a manga reader.

I haven't touched a single chapter of the manga and I gotta say that, yes, it was absolutely that bad to me. Easily some of the most atrocious character/plot writing I've ever seen in anime.

And that's just one example of bad writing from 1 episode. Don't even get me started on the rest, especially that insulting slideshow ending.

What happened with the demon horse guy saying he wanted to try a human? They ignored it. What about those characters introduced when Norman came back? They ignored them. What about how Norman laid out an intricate plan for genocide and worked on his poison gas for ages? He just dropped it after killing one person because he was apparently too scared all of a sudden. The issues go on and on. I hadn’t even mentioned the slideshow ending where they said “Hey Emma is doing some cool stuff and the rest of the kids are adjusting to the human world! But let’s just not cover that because we don’t care!” That’s why this is a 4/10 for me.
The only redeeming qualities are that the first few days episodes are fine, the ending song is 🔥, and the character designs and animation quality remain good like s1 (aside from that cgi I don’t think Ben wanna talk about lol).

It was quite possibly the most disappointing season of anime I’ve ever watched. The first season set things up for this show to be a potential all time classic and they squandered all of that. I had extremely high expectations and it fell so far short of them that it’s laughable.
