Hey everyone,

So I just finished season 4 and I am so confused. The series as a whole started really good with season one, but as the seasons progressed I feel like more and more content was cut out making it almost impossible to follow.

I did some research and season 4 ends on volume 21 in the light novel, meaning that the fifth and final season will have only 1 volume to adapt, which I assume is like 2-3 episodes.

I feel like the story was kinda destroyed with the adaptations even though I am a fan of any kind of adaptation.

What are your thoughts on the subject?

I'm reading the novels right now. I'm currently on volume 15 which covers the last arc of season 3 and so far 3 whole volumes have been skipped. 7 and 8 were skipped and they covered how Kojou became the 4th primogenitor (asagi also learns the truth about kojou in these volumes which is a lot earlier than she does in the anime). Volume 10 is skipped in season 2 and really isn't that important, but that forced them to cram kojou sucking Kanon's blood for the first time and gaining a new beast vassal into later in that season than it happened in the light novels. So far season 3 has been pretty faithful with volumes 13, 14, and 15. Looking ahead I saw season 4 covers 16,19,20, and 21 so that's two volumes getting skipped in season 4.

I haven't gotten to those volumes yet so idk what they add to the story yet or if they're just side stories. I just remember trying to watch season 4 as it was coming out and I'd always forget what's going on because they only released 2 episodes every 3 months. Sorry for the long post I just felt like sharing what I know.

No worries. Honestly what you said explains a lot. I haven't read any of the LN volumes but I know that there are a lot of holes in the story. Maybe also one of the main things that ruin the experience are the horrible subtitles. Still it's better than not having any, but I remember the last 2 episodes of season 3, I did not understand anything. Same for the last 3 episodes of season 4.

I agree I think the subs (mostly in Szn 4, but definitely prevalent in 2 & 3) are also a big factor in the confusion department. I have (or at least I think I have) a pretty good understanding of the plot as a whole, but having the terrible subs doesn’t help with understanding.

Im grateful for the subs, I am. Without them Id be flying a jet blind.

I don't feel confused.... The story is better than any other ecchi anime I have watched....
This anime is very much underrated..... I think it's bcz it has no dub....
Overall I'm not confused... And I'm very satisfied with the story....

I feel like the characters' chemistry have been what's been hit the most at least as the anime has progressed. I felt season four while started strong if a bit confusing, but in the tournament they just couldn't blend it all together well making it a bit hit or miss. Hell this ended nothing like season 3 my favorite waifu fight in all anime.

As an anime watcher only, I have to say that this was sadly confusing as hell. We have an overall idea of what is happening, but everything else is "just accept these randomness".

Each episode was like a new anime was starting. The transitions were non-existent or poorly done, and that started already in season 3.

Over the time, I started to not care what was happening and caught myself skipping some some small parts in the last episodes.

Unfortunately, the only good solid season, is season 1.
