I'm caught up. It's characters pretty forgettable and the plot isn't anything to look forward to despite it being somewhat interesting. I enjoy the animation because it's Shaft but the show is nothing special deserves the score it's at in my opinion. It's a very 7/10 show.

The show is good, and yes, literally an anime of this season, but to call it THE anime of the season is a bit too farfetched (personal opinion).

The animation is superb and the music and VA performance are great but I feel like the plot lacks substance that if I compare it with other anime this season heavily focused on story and emotional development, this series won't be up to that level, if you get what I mean.

But it's still an enjoyable series and gives me the hop in my steps.

its not popular so it doesnt get overrated by normies but also because lots of people cant really appreciate something like this, similar with shadows house. they're both amazing and best of this season imo, such a shame.

I started loving with a lot of hype, it was really cool but the last two episodes were hard to watch because I'm not liking these school investigations, apart from that it has no character deepening, no mention of the protagonist's star. Nothing happens in the anime and I don't have a sense of growth. I wanted to see more comedy and harem than to be arguing sitting without emotion.

Those who care about the aesthetics will like every episode equally, so they won't change the score.

Those who care about the plot liked the first few episodes more than the rest, so they're lowering the score.

Most people care about plot, action or melodrama more than aesthetics, that's why the score is low. I personally disagree, because aesthetics is the one thing that makes anime unique, worth watching over any other medium (I mean, if you care so much about writing, you'd better read a novel).

Just having pretty visuals =/= instant success. The characters are boring, the Investigations are easily repetitive and boring, the visuals aren't something unique to the show considering there are many more prettier shows out there.

You basically stated the opposite of what the norm actually is. The more popular a show is, the more people rate it and the more its score decreases after airing. 4 out of the top 7 anime have <7.6 score. Bnha, Nagotoro and Higehiro have been rated by 100k+,90k+,and 80k users while the highest rated show of this season FuruBa has a score of 9.05 but has been rated only by 30k users.
In case of this show, it seems even the target audience wasn't impressed as there is no evidence of haters botting the show with 1s from the statistics. So the score seems rightfully deserved..

Well I used it as an example to refute spaesu's theory that a show needs to be popular(a lot of users of MAL) to be highly rated. And my point still stands though. A better example would have been Vivy ig. It started in the 7.5s with basically nobody watching it and gradually rose to 8.5s and became one of the most popular shows of the season. Wonder Egg's case was very similar as well.
But I do agree with you. Furuba is basically in its 6th season(taking the original adaptation into consideration),so the only people who are still watching are those who genuinely love the show. Still the quality of the remake has been quite remarkable and I am pretty sure even it was a new show its rating would still be around 8.4 or more.

I love the tone of this show. It feels almost satirical in its depiction of child detectives, a big phase during the 90s and early 2000s with shows like scooby doo. But at the same time it's almost dreamlike. In essence, it's almost as if the show is a commentary on childhood itself, and I think that's pretty cool and unique.

However the plot and characters are pretty bland. The show is too caught up in its intellectualism for it to spend time developing the characters, and the plot itself is a little too slow and often quite bland. But like with this latest arc, I see hope. The show has a great premise and art direction, it's just held back by the mediocre storytelling, which is something that may change in future.

But yeah, this show's a 7 from me as well.

I've enjoyed but at the same has felt like a slog to get through. There has also been a couple if recent average cases. Great start, slog second half of the middle and picking up again on this final arc.
