I know most anime are rushed compared to the novel (thanks God, because novels are soo sloooooow paced)

But even compared to the manga, too much details was skiped, like the studio was doing this season as a punishment "go go, let's finish it soon, the earlier we are free from it, the better!"

Result: 10 episodes of fanservice and "things we dont care" (idea from the studio) happening until next fanservice.

I KNOW fan-service is the core of this anime, but at least the manga, the first season, they disguised it a bit with a better pace of events in between.

I haven't got round to watching it in full yet but I enjoyed the first series. The fact it's 10 EPs should tell you everything you need to know. It's a fairly long standing trend to give harem/fanservice anime that do well, a second season but one that has a cut number of episodes and more of a focus on further fanservice, rather then the elements that made it enjoyable or wholesome or escapist in the first place.

It's definetly one of the more annoying trends in anime and seldom leads to results that are as good as the original first 12/13 EPs series'es were. Few other examples of it would be Nisekoi, Date a live S2 and is it a zombie S2. All inferior to their first series which isn't surprizing when you focus on cheap fanservice, put the original story to the background and reduce the number of episodes😶😶🤔🤔

I feel like you have to explain yourself more to what you mean when you claim "fanservice" when we talk about a ecchi anime. What are you expecting from an anime that's got a big boobed blonde bimbo elf, and a super powered loli, both with slave collars around their necks

Story-wise, it was actually handled decently since it was a continuation of Season 1.
All other aspects you can forget about it as "fanservice" is the core theme of Isekai Maou.

This is another classic case where the sequel season is MUCH inferior to the prequel.

So what was the issue ? ... to much fan service? I thought it was about the same amount as the first one

Yeah gotta agree with the fact that the fanservice really is a part of it. Even in the manga fanservice was a part in it. I also agree with how it is inferior to the first season.
Overall not as good as the first season but the end-cards made it worth it :p

The issue with Isekai Maou is that the fanservice pretty much outclassed the story so much so that you're not watching this show for the story but for the culture.

Season 2 had the story cranked up to 11 that was abundant against the fanservice moments, so much so that if you aren't watching Isekai Maou for the fanservice, you're missing the point.

And FYI, there IS fanservice, just not a while lot during the story phase of this season.

There were too many new characters which were definitely essential to the plot but somehow they gutted all of them including our original cast. Fanservice definitely wasn't the issue here and more on it's whacked out pacing. They could have finished this in a 13 Episode Format yet they went with 10 Episodes.

I mostly agree with your point, but I take offense when you say zombie 2 is worse than the original.

I'm glad you agree with most of it😎😊.

Zombie 2 is produced just as well, no doubth but the story ends up convoluted and clearly struggles with such a short run time. I by no means think it was bad, just less well passed and thougth out then it's predecessor 👍

The issue is that the team behind this season didn't care, while the previous team clearly had a lot of passion for the project. Might've been a decline in content aswell but it wouldn't be as stark a contrast if the team was competent and cared for their product.

I think the problem is that Europa shouldn't be in this story yet. Overall they are in the Volume 6 but they only fight Europa in Volume 10. I kinda hate it that they did this because they didn't need to force Europa into this season

Rushed? Yes, not enough time slot for more fan-service scenes which is the core of this anime.
Crazy? No

Idk about the novel, but I more anime as anime-only. The pace is that crazy. TsugumonoS2/MahoromaticS2/MagicalWarfare is the definition of superfast crazy rushed that left you wonder wtf happened.

The 1st season was average. But the 2nd is below, why it doesn't matter. Bottom line is, I gave s1 a 5/10 and s2 has earned a 4/10.

The only rushed like crazy anime that I like. It's obvious that it was rushed but at some point it looked like it wasn't. It was pretty balanced for me.
