| Yes this chapter was definitely a Suou chapter more than anything else. Sensei really knows how to pierce the heart deeply.It was almost a philosophical chapter, very beautiful. His exchange with Kyoko tan, his thoughts on Yukiko, him seeing through Arata, facing himself, noticing Taichi and expressing his deepest wish and love while desperately lunging forward to poem 43, and tearing up while winning....omg. Suou is in my top favourite characters of Chihayafuru by now!! I like to think that not only did Suou save Taichi in his most lonely time, Taichi did the same for him. Suou finally chooses the light...he opened his heart and never wanted a card/poem more fervently. Some insight on Arata's training who keeps to a very athletic, methodical, approach in karuta, some musings on Chiha. What does Chiha truly mean to Arata, did he ever dialogue with the 100 poets? It might come to him to see deeper than just taking cards as fast as he can. Arata has alot on his plate to be resolved, his karuta, his grandfather, trying out a different karuta and his own dark feelings. A dialogue with yourself and with the cards. It's an ongoing dialogue with the poets and their circumstances. I went on an emotional rollercoaster here. How the abandoned child Suou, was left with a void in his heart, unable to let it be filled. How he held on to his indifference, remaining empty, ignoring his own blessings....omg, the wall broke and it all rushed in, all his defenses down to receive the love he so longed for....in tears yet again. I can't wait for the next chapter that will probably cover the end of the Queen's match and a part of the break. |

| What a beautiful colorpage to start off the chapter! -That "Chiha" send from Arata gave me the chills when I first saw the raws-my mind instantly went back to chapter 119 and what Chihaya told Arata. Just thinking about the things that could happen/unfold due to this send is making me giddy. Is this the start of Arata facing both karuta and himself properly? Will we get a Chihaya x Arata synchronized sweep of poem 17 in the 5th match? -The portrait of his late grandfather. I'm not sure who will win the Meijin match, but I never saw it finishing before Yuu arrives since she's carrying it with her. -Taichi's arrival has a sparked a fire in 3/4 challengers. All three want to win even more now, I can't wait for the final match! -Suo and Arata being alike in the sense that both were introduced to karuta by the relative they held most precious, and karuta eventually became the only way they could navigate through the world and make a name for themselves. I love details like this. -The usage of poem 43 in the story is so beautiful, Suetsugu only uses it when it comes to life-changing moments! When Rieko found out she was pregnant with Kana, how Chihaya felt after Arata had confessed his love, and now for Suo-how it was the first sound to fill his emptiness. -There are a lot of pages/scenes that I love, but the final page of this chapter just hit me different. The way the tomato turned into poem 43, how the first meeting between Suo and Yukiko changed the course of his life forever-something neither were aware of yet and wouldn't be until years later. Yukiko was his light and now Suo wants to be light for others. Chihaya's "every single one of them was given to me by someone else" line from 229 rings true for the entire story. Suetsugu understands that we are nothing without support, love, community, and camaraderie! Those things are so important to/for her and I love how it pours out in the writing. -The big reveal, Suo wants to stay the Meijin after all. I'm not sure how the match will end, but I'm positive that'll he'll stay in the karuta world regardless of the outcome. |

| @mdanishaiman Normally the chapter comes out every month. There was a little problem because Mangadex went down for some weeks which made us wait terribly long for 234. Sometimes Sensei takes a break too. She will probably after chapter 237. She needs some vacation, she has a big family and probably want to enjoy time with her kids. To get info, there are several places: Chihayafuru subreddit, Chihayafuru discord server, twitter #Chihayafuru are probably the most easy places to get info about the story. Many fans are around there and you can ask questions. I hope I answered your questions. |
