Unless there's some kind of twist involving Satoko not being responsible for the events of the damashi arcs. It's probably not worth it.

It'll probably just pick up where Gou left off, with Rika confronting Satoko.

Based on both previews/teasers for sotsu, it seems like it'll have lots of focus on rena which yeah.. rena shouldn't play this much of a role in the satoko/rika battle so I'm guessing we'll be watching onidamashi hen again with more focus for her rather than keiichi.Maybe a onikakushi and tsumihoroboshi combo of some sort?

We are just going to get "answers" for questions that dont matter.

I expect the first half of Sotsu to be filler just like Gou with stuff that dont largely affect Satoko vs Rika.

I doubt we will get a better explanation for Satoko's downfall or why Rika DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING during Gou's first half.

And for the cherry on top I suspect that we will get a speedrun of sorts of events that would be better to have multiple eps. But you know...why be competent in screenwriting and directing?

oh yeah...and more magical powers for the culprit. Cant forget that.

Oh so they're calling another season of more senseless violence and torture porn as "answers" now huh? Okay. The show so far has basically been as shallow as a Yandere Simulator: The Anime.

To the main thread post, most likely as the trailers set back to Onidamashi-hen. As to why we're wasting the time is the only real mystery. If it's just setting up HOW Satoko ruined everything, it doesn't matter since we already know WHY. The show already setup she's the culprit. The only real twist would be actually answering that Satoko was innocent all along, such as the preview showing her knife and shoes clean when discovering Rika already dead. Satoko possibly hallucinating much of the story, never being cured of her L5 in the past, only in the present. It'd raise the mystery that if Satoko didn't kill Rika, who did if Rena was already dead at Keiichi's house?

That however would be too clever and they'll probably just go the basic route of Satoko still heartlessly ruining everything just because the director wanted more shameless gore. Whatever happened to Rena, Keiichi, and whoever the hell else doesn't matter anymore because they're helpless pawns in middle of Rika's/Satoko's battle. My brain phased out most of the Higurashi cast now because Gou did.

Also by god, I won't watch Sotsu until it finishes airing, but I PRAY it at least stops with the bullshit like Satoko snapping her fingers and always saying certainty. She's not Thanos it's just irritating and every time she says "CERTAINTY CERTAINTY CERTAINTY" the screen may as well flash an ad saying "UMINEKO NOW ON SALE ON STEAM BUY NOOOOW!!!" Too much with Gou I could NOT take seriously at all. It's bad enough this story snowballed out of control over NOTHING.
