I’ve listened to the AOT soundtrack several times over and I can’t help but feel the scale and feel of the amazing pieces that are in the show is something I haven’t seen so well done before. A lot of anime have amazing soundtracks but the Opening, endings, and everything in between for AOT just feel unmatched.

Probably yes. It has Hiroyuki Sawano.
This is enough to prove that aot has the best soundtracks

AOT OSTs are by far one of the best out there, but so is any OST by Sawano. You can listen to his OSTs in Owari no Seraph, LoGH (the remake) and Aldnoah Zero and they all give off the same vibe as AOT. He's a really talented guy, but he put the most effort in AOT it feels like. My favorite of his will definitely be the AOT OSTs. I actually have a playlist uniquely for AOT soundtracks.

Idk. I really like you see big girl but other osts didn't catch my attention that much. I think FMAB has the best osts followed by death note. However some of AoT's openings and endings are insanely good.

I like it, but not my favorite.

I like Houseki no Kuni's much more.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series also has really good soundtracks.

With animes like Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Carole and Tuesday, Gits:SAC and Megalo Box and many more it'll be a huge no 99,9% of the time.

It's definitely up there as one of the best, but other shows like Hunter x Hunter (both '99 and 2011), Hikaru no Go, Hajime no Ippo, Shinsekai yori, Cowboy Bebop, Baccano!, and Made in Abyss all rival it in my opinion.

If I were to state it as an objective fact then no, I absolutely love the soundtracks in Attack on Titan; but there are definitely other anime that have great soundtracks as well such as Hunter x Hunter, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Death Note, Naruto, Bleach, Monogatari, and others as well. Attack on Titan and Death Note definitely have my favorite soundtracks but they aren't objectively the best; I think it would be more appropriate to say one of the best, at least coming from me

It’s certainly up there for sure, but it’s hard to balance it against the rest of his catalogue such as Kill la Kill’s OST. Then there’s other great composers like Taku Iwasaki, Yutaka Yamada, Yuugo Kanno and so on who also have strong catalogues.

Calling anything "the best" can be controversial. However, SnK surely has one of the best soundtracks in anime. Basically anything that Sawano Hiroyuki comes up with is a literal masterpiece.

Oh, thanks for mentioning Hikaru no Go, I also love songs from this (great) anime.

------

As for AOT, I think the OST is pretty generic / typical but it's not to say it's bad. It works perfectly well in the show. For instance the OST after Eren's mom is eaten (Vogel im Kafig), the absolutely unforgettable melody that accompanies Levi's first kill, and Biggirl of course (and that sad song in ACNWR OVA, "So ist es immer"). At the same time, Reluctant heroes (the melody for Levi's epic entry) for instance is imho a very bland piece of music when listened to independently from beginning to ent, and this can be said of other tracks too except for maybe Biggrl. I feel bored listening to them. But it's not a problem for an OST, I think. It doesn't have to be a music masterpiece, it has to serve its purpose, and AOT's OST does it well.

Sometimes when music it too good on its own, it can distract you from the picture. You don't need music the level of the Beatles or Radiohead as an OST as the emotion from music alone would get so overwhelming that it makes the image meaningless. I think that the ideal result is when you do not experience the OST as a distinct part of the show. You just experience the show as a whole, you are immersed and feel the emotions that creators had intended, but you don't stop to say, "oh that's a cool melody" (the same way as you normally don't pay attention to the quality of animation if the show is engaging enough).

I find AOT's endings are the best for listening as independent songs, they are really good, not so hype as the openings, but I listen to them again and again.

Is AOT's OST the best? Maybe not, but it's very decent for sure.

-----

My favourite anime OST by now is certainly Durarara, it's so particular and it really makes this anime stand out from anime's with other similar weirdish premises.

Recency bias runs so rampant with you anime fans, lol. There are a few good pieces from Shingeki no Kyogin but the soundtrack definitely isn’t as memorable as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, or Samurai Champloo.

In the end, that's a subjective question. However there's no denying that the AoT OST is very fitting and well used in the show. I personally prefer a lot of soundtracks over AoT like Madoka Magica, Kara no Kyoukai, Monogatari or Ghost in the Shell, but I can definitely see why the Attack on Titan soundtrack would be someones all time favorite.
