To people who have seen both which do you think is better so far? After I finish the series I’m just going to read the source material as well

This is a sequel, so watching Deen series is mandatory if you want to avoid major confusion.

As the other person said, this is like an optional third season. I’d suggest watching the first two seasons and then if you really like it watch this new one. It’s not really needed unless you really enjoy the first seasons.

this is a sequel, it is required to watch the original before going into this season. idky they advertised it as a remake but its not. more like a reboot.

I saw the third season as optional watch, the second season wrapped everything up n finally gave an explanation. If you don’t have the time to watch over 100+ episodes(with upcoming season 4) you can just watch the first two and be just fine.

i feel like the third and fourth just adds to the story bit more and it's just a good all around so nothing wrong with there actions

I completely agree you can see rika learning from her mistakes like who to give the doll to.

I know everyone always says you need to watch the original but I'd say it's not super necessary.

This is a sequel so some stuff won't make sense if you watch it as a first season. But they do have the over explaining by characters in the first episodes so you WILL still understand the plot, even without the background info the first series' provide.

Even tho I love the first series the quality of the animation is terrible and the development in plot can sometimes be very slow when compared to the newer one. A slow developing, plot can be very off putting.
For me it was a 'in the background while I cook dinner' anime.

Just give tje first couple episodes of the original a try and if you're like "oh god this is so slow" then just skip to the new one and watch it as a stand alone. If you think the first episodes are boring you'll be very very bored when you get the timeline repeating and sit through nearly the same episode... again.

full honesty Rika is a idiot she don't try to fix the loop by her self she just trys one little thing and hopes it just stops

If you've already decided to read the source material, have you thought of.. maybe reading it first?
It's likely the best way you can get the most out of this franchise.

On the question itself, definitely Deen's first seasons first.
Some may say it doesn't really matter what you do,
but when we're comparing going from Deen -> GOU
with going from GOU -> Deen, it gets quite clear what you should do.

If nothing else, Deen doesn't take anything away from GOU, but GOU does take something away from Deen.

Intelligent gets through situations which wise avoids.

This is a sequel, it is not a remake. You have to watch both seasons of the Deen anime, as well as the 5 episodes of Rei before watching this iteration of the franchise. Knowledge of Umineko will enrich your experience of this sequel, but is not strictly necessary.

Original first then the new one. The new one isn't really a remake but a continuation. Both are amazing shows

First of all this ain't a remake but a sequel so ofco you have to watch the previous seasons to understand this. The whole reason to why people thought this was a remake was because of the way the promotional video of this sequel was.. anyways you'll understand better once you start watching from season 1

I mean this is technically a sequel so pretty much that's what I did when I found out because most of the stuff you're not going to understand unless you watch the original stuff I mean they tried but the original goes more in death

This is 100 percent a sequel. People watching this as a remake without knowledge of the original series will miss out many details and probably will just end up confused.

I wonder how much this remake view helped or harmed Gou? It surely did bring in new viewers, but the orginal mystery is spoiled, and some end up confused and disliking the show.

I much prefer Gou over the original, but with that said, I highly recommend you watch the original before seeing Gou seeing as this is a clear-cut sequel. From all of the reviews and comments I've seen, it isn't impossible, but it's VERY likely that you will either get lost in what's actually happening or not enjoy the subtle details scattered throughout the OP, the first half, and part of the second half of the anime.

Watch the original 2 seasons or it won't make sense at all.
