Also, I hope the pacing doesn't get screwed up. I feel like trying to save the marriage is hopeless in both cases, since trust was broken pretty badly. Plus, there's a lack of communication, support, intimacy, and passion in both of the couples.

I get why Michi does not want to come clean, because she's worried that it'll hurt Yo more than help their marriage but if she can't handle intimacy with him anymore than that kind of defeats the purpose of keeping her affair to herself. Makoto has already peeled that scab a bit when he revealed his affair to Kaede but then she shut down communication. Yeah, it's really hard to hash it all out and listen to your spouse explain how they emotionally connected to someone else but you either work it out by talking about it or you cut your losses and move on. And avoidance will just lead to a cycle of failed relationships. Every relationship is the same because no matter where you go, you can't get away from yourself and everything that's new/fresh, gets old. I really think Michi needs to just keep sex off the table and reconnect to Yo physically (without the pressure of sex) and emotionally. Maybe it's a cultural thing but aside from sexual touching or when taking care of the sick, there seems to be zero physical intimacies between these partners that don't hold the expectation and pressure of sex. Holding hands, back rubs, kisses, it all doesn't have to be about sexual gratification, does it?
