Weird question, but, supposedly, Poco's been alive for a really long time. How he acts is understandable now, never interacting with humans and just now learning the world through a human's eyes, but what about ten, fifty, a hundred years from now?
As a Tanuki he's full grown. As a boy he's a child. I'm just curious on other's thoughts on it all, or if the creator answered this question somehow and I'm just not far enough in the series.

I’ve been wondering that too! I’m about halfway through the series, so maybe it’ll be explained later on?

I don't want to spoil anything. All I'll say is I posted this question before I finished the series.

So I just finished it, and wow... I'm blinking back tears.

My question's been answered. It was such a satisfying ending, but very emotional. All in all, I loved the series.

It is one of the hidden gems of slice of life anime. I'm glad I'm not the only one who looks for this kind of stuff.

I was really interested in reading the manga after I finished, but it seems it's not been translated into English yet. :(

Any other recommendations comparable to this one?

Miira no Kaikata has a similar vibe, but is about the main character caring for a small, cute mummy.
Somali to Mori no Kamisama is about a golem caring for a human girl when humans have become a food source for monsters, but is very laid back overall.

All three of the ones below are fairly similar as well.
Barakamon
Usagi Drop
Uchi no Ko no Tame naraba, Ore wa Moshikashitara Maou mo Taoseru kamo Shirenai

All the ones I recommended I gave at least an 8/10, and they all have similar vibes, but not the same set up as a father/son feel. It's a theme that's, sadly, ignored in most slice of life anime.

Thank you! I really enjoyed Usagi Drop, so I'll check out those other ones you recommended as well.

There's a manga I really enjoyed called Chichi to Ko (Father and Son), that has that same feel. I don't know if you've heard of it but it's worth reading! It's more like a slice of life, but some of the scrapes the pair of them get into are hysterical. It's very sweet.

tinywoodenrobot, Horimiya seems to have a good vibe so far. It is fairly different, but still has some elements of Poco's Udon World.
