Since the beginning Haru and Daisuke are complete opposites in every way and watching them from episode one was entertaining. However, in these last couple of episodes, I've started to notice that there is little to almost no growth between them as characters. Their relationship hasn't evolved beyond that Haru is annoyed by Daisuke most of the time and they never really worked well together. Plus Haru lately has been useless and Daisuke has been doing more of the legwork.

One anime that does this better is Great Pretender where the cast has more development between them and Laurant and Makoto work well as swindlers though they may not agree with everything. In the end, they both (along with the other characters) get the job done while their friendship grows, unlike Haru and Daisuke. With only 2 episodes left, unless Haru does a complete 180, I can't see him other than being an extra in Daisuke's quest. And I honestly don't see how their relationship could grow in 2 episodes. I hope it's not rushed in the end.

What do you all think of Haru and Daisuke as a duo? If they make a good team or if Daisuke is better off without Haru and vice/versa.

Totally agree. This is the main flaw of Fugou Keiji in my opinion. Haru and Daisuke are pictured as a detective duo, but they almost never acted like a team or partners since the beginning. And the relationship between them didn't evolve quite a bit since episode 4 (and even back then they didn't become friends or something). I hope it'll get better in the next episodes, but since they are only 2 more, I doubt it will be significant.

Only a second season could bring more development for this.

So the episode where Kanbe stayed at Kato's home isn't worth anything?

It didn't change anything between them at the end. Daisuke didn't have his wealth for a bit but five minutes later he's back to his regular self without improving his relationship with Haru.

Yeah, I do wish we had more of a dynamic between them other than Haru being annoyed by Daisuke and Daisuke being Daisuke. More characterization from both of them would've been nice too.

Well I do expect a little development in the last episodes by them working together.
My wish for the last two episodes however would be that Haru saves Daisuke‘s live and by that also overcomes his trauma by finally doing something right and being able to save someone. Well I think that will get them a bit closer but they will probably be far from becoming friends. But at least maybe they’ll recognize each other as proper partners or work mates.

But I agree, I expected a lot more development than that. Especially after Ep 4 I thought they would become a bit closer or start trusting each other more.

I mean it seams there was way more development between Haru and Hishino in one single episode (ep9) than between the two main characters in all 9 episodes together.

agreed, the anime is so underwhelming with so much potential. but i don't blame them, with only 11 episodes to explore the character dynamics and such a major plot, it's no surprise much of the show is so underdeveloped.

Lots of wasted potential for any kind of friendship between Haru and Daisuke.
