| I know its like an alternate setting and what not but is the premise the same. Mai Otome lacks both the "action" and "Shoujo-Ai" (which I normally do not enjoy but worked very well in the former). I especially loved how dark Hime got towards the end and I was wondering if something similar happens in Otome, or if its just "brighter" or more light hearted. |
| Late response but Mai-Otome is set in an alternate universe. It has a lot of references to Mai-HiME, but overall it is its own original story. I enjoyed watching both of them! Although Mai-HiME is more memorable, I enjoyed Mai-Otome after rewatching it a few months ago. |
