THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I won their match and will go to the spring tournament.
And Fukurodani got beaten but still got a spot. Itachiyama is one school we will have to watch out for.

The after credit scene was funny. Poor Hinata.

Very good OVAs! I liked watching as Nekoma advanced to the nationals
If I have to criticize something, the animation left a lot to be desired.

Hinata got pumped.

Not really sure because I didn't confirm, but kinda felt like these two episodes left out a bit content.

Overall, wasn't Haikyuu at it's peak, but nonetheless great simply because it's Haikyuu xD

Was a nice prequel to the 4th season. Obviously being 2 eps it did feel like they had to cram some bit in but oh well. OST was amazing for this

Really enjoyed those OVAs.

That said, it does feel like it's going a bit too fast for its own good. Also I checked the manga, and many small moments that characterized some team members a bit more were left out, which is always a shame considering it's what Haikyuu really excels at.

Animation was still really good with many impressive moments, but I feel like the directing wasn't as good as it usually is, there were some weird transition here and there, and a bit more stills than usual. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the result of the schedule being less optimal than previous seasons.

Still highly recommend it.

pretty good ova, pacing of the sets felt a bit off but besides that only awesomeness. It managed to capture the essence of haikyuu for sure. Animation being on point in a OVA should be a good sign for season 4.

Second episode felt much better than the first one, I was getting that familiar hype that made me fall in love with the franchise. Still probably the weakest part of the Haikyuu anime so far, it really needed at least one more episode, but it was still overall great and I can't complain too much in that case.

This was so great. One of the best things about Haikyuu is how it makes us want to cheer for the antagonists too. I don't think I've ever before felt bad abiut a cheater team losing.

I was really missing this kind of god production, so good this last match, I was praying "Nekoma pass! Nekoma win!" all the time.
They really deserved it.
Kuro vs Yaku was the best thing.
I really enjoyed it.

Great couple of episodes to show how things went down over at Tokyo! An episode or two more to fill up some more and make it feel a little more impactful was missing though, I reckon.

Anyway, both these matches were amazing! Nekoma really are a formidable team once they got their groove in place but sadly trouble was awaiting in both.

Fukurodani's Bokuto coming up with that insane shot in the end, you just can't do anything about such magical and genius moves but be in awe and let it slide. I thought Nekoma had it in the bag when Kenma came up with that witty plan but once stroke of genius undid all that. Lol, the 37th problem though, I'm super curious how many there are in total. Hey, Hey, Hey!

Anyway, Nohebi sure played nasty but more importantly their drive and dedication makes them a serious and difficult opponent to face. It's sad that only the top three can progress, but that's Sports life. I'd a feeling Nekoma would pull off a stunner after Yaku-san's injury and it sure was, creds to Lev for that. Damn, the Capt. got his girl back too, how lucky xD.

Lev's sister and the mohawk's imouto were really fun company to watch, I hope we'll get to see more of them in the ongoing Season 4.

Solid 7/10 from here!

OVA was a letdown for me. Felt like they cut out too much imo.

EDIT: Alright, that was better on a rewatch, still think they cut out too much but eh.

I really liked seeing more of Nekoma as a team. Yaku and Kuro constantly fighting was hilarious.

Nice to see Lev learning more about how to work as a team. His little moment with the libero sub was really nice.

Nice Nekoma won and Lev finally understands what teamwork is so even better for them. Also lol that guy lost the game but won his gf back, lucky. Decent two episode ova's, the games weren't as hyped as usual but still great.

Great episode, though the pacing was fast (since its only a 2 episode OVA) and the directing animation was a bit off but the hype and drama was still there but just not as much as it was in the previous season so it was all still good!

Nakamura-san's character and a member fighting when first year, but thinking the same goal.

KajiKaji's character being objective made the member subbing one member getting hurt who was targetted by the opponent team's shadyness immediately back on track.

Opponent team is still not done and fight back.

The new ace finally realized the meaning of teamwork, which he doesn't like through that new member, and they won another game.

Showing another team (at least I'm not recognizing).

At the end of the episode, when they show the results of the matches, what does the subtitles "Venue sponsor representative: Nekoma High School" mean?
I thought there were 2 spot to the nationals for the Tokyou zone, but actually there is 3 oO? wtf isn't that way too much?

I think since they cut out so much, this didn't do nearly as good of a job at getting you pissed off at Nohebi. They felt so much scummier in the manga.

hate him if you want, but daishou's attitude is the correct attitude for sports.

you're not just playing the other team. you're playing the officials and the crowd too. and if the match is being broadcast and/or reported on, you're playing the commentators, the media and the audience at home as well. taunting and trash talking the opponent is a great strategy to gain a mental edge. while he was a little cold towards morisuke, he has his own team to worry about, and showing compassion in the middle of the game isn't going to help you win, which is the ultimate goal.

any team would be blessed to have a player like him on their team.

I gotta say this match was really fun to watch. The way how it was done was pretty tense in terms of developing the team mates of Nekoma. It is still sad to see the other team lose since they also gave it their all.

Nohebi's motto is fair and square but they're conniving!! Annoying!! I didn't expect Nekoma will have a hard time to win, I thought they're strong like Shiratorizawa.

Hmmm Mika is pretty! Lucky that guy even he's annoying lol

I'm confused though, so who's the representative for Tokyo? Fukurodani?

Oh?? Really? So Fukurodani and Nekoma is going to Nationals right?

A little bit disappointing, not much effort was put into animating this apart from 2 or 3 short scenes. For some reason I feel that Nekoma is so lackluster compared to Aoba Johsai and Shiratorizawa. I'm glad these chapters were adapted in OVA form though, so they don't take away from the actual series. I just didn't feel that usual intensity in matches, possibly because I don't feel very attached to anyone on these teams at all except maybe Bokuto, or the leader of Nekoma. A missed opportunity in teasing the guy whos wearing the facemask.

Could someone explain to me how the Nationals work? If I recall correctly, only one team in Karasuno's division or whatever was able to advance, but it seems three did for this one? Is that due to their region being larger or something? I'm not too sure how these japanese tournaments function.

ok so im confused by something. I thought that like, each region has their own pool of matches and then one team is selected to represent that region in nationals. Why were three teams selected here?

Like throughout season 2/3 the stakes were that if karasuno lost any match they would be out of the tournament (as far as i know). Only two teams made it to the final (shiratorizawa and karasuno) and the winner was the only team going to nationals

so why over here they selected 3 representative teams? and nekoma was given more chances to win? i didnt understand that
