| Semi-popular rec: A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, directed by Ana Lily Amirpour (her directorial debut) Very unique art film shot in stark black and white that draws influence from a wide range of genres. The central theme is actually female empowerment, which is a bit odd considering that most films touching on the subject can be forceful or overbearing, but I thought it was handled in a very tasteful manner. Anyway, here's a review I wrote for it on Letterboxd. |
