I really want to watch Terra e... but I'm drawn away because of it's genre. I've looked at reviews but I've never gotten a clear answer. Is Terra e.. only for sci-fi lovers?

Never mind what I said before. I just watched a few episodes and have already found the answer I was looking for.

And what conclusion is that?

Terra E is a hard sci-fi. It's a serious story that spans a long period of time, with pretty drastic character development. IMO, you don't have to be an SF fan to appreciate the story or characters, though it would certainly help. You only really need to be a drama fan.

So, did you like it?

It had a lot of similarities witht the Matrix as well as many dystopian SF settings. At the same time, this is not PURE HARD SF...It's a MIX of Space opera and SF (by the way, they are quite different)....If you want pure HARD SF, try Ghost in the Shell or Ergo Proxy....

Hard SF is not "deeper" than soft SF by the way.
Hard SF revolves around the possibilties and effects of technology and science in imaginary settings (often future but not always the case)
Soft Sf deals with SOCIAL and political alternatives

Often, SF works contain BOTH soft and hard ELEMENTS... The dominant one is said to characterize its subgenre.

According to me, a GOOD long-running SF series/books must deal with BOTH.
Only in SF short stories, only one present is enough just because the short stories are short....

KINO's JOURNEY is considered as a light novel compilation of SF stories studying the behaviour and life of humans under different customs, culture and values....

But really good and serious SF writers are mostly in America and most of them are dead......(Leguin (alive), Asimov (dead), Octavia Butler (dead)..)

bla bla bla
The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

it's a beautiful drama that anyone would love, i think. space/sci-fi has nothing to do with it; it's just a 'method' of telling this amazing story.

I would say you probably won't enjoy it as much unless space operas suit you. It's just filled with sci-fi techy stuff.
