I haven't played any Castlevania, but I thought Bloodstained looks cool ^o^

Bloodstained should give you a good idea of what the older games are about, but I recommend playing through Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night. They are the absolute best Castlevania games out there. One is is a side scroller, the other a Metroidvania.

As a rule of thumb, if the name sounds similar, the games are related. Symphony of the Night is a sequel to Rondo of Blood, so you really should play that one first. Though most people don't. Don't know why, but Castlevania fans seem to neglect the old formula.
Personally I've always preferred it to the JRPG style, but to each their own.

I've played some Metroidvania and I kind of assumed that all of Castlevania is like that, since it's half of where the word came from xD
I was going to play Symphony of the Night first ^^ but if Rondo of Blood is a prequel then maybe I should play that one first after all o.o

Never heard of those. Too many games come out these days, I guess :D

Speaking of old games, I played Sonic Mania, and I know now why you complimented it above~ :>

Castlevania used to be really hardcore. I couldn't complete the first game without savestates, and I haven't been able to beat the third one. Bloostained Curse of the Moon is nothing like that, however. It's got two main stories. First one is too easy. Second one is difficult enough to kill me twice on the second level lol

Yeah, Sonic Mania is God-tier. It's gotten pretty good for remakes these past few years. Crash, Spyro, Destroy all Humans, Medievil, Link's Awakening. All we need now is some Twisted Metal and I won't leave my room for a year!

I so liked Ocarina of Time. I liked Majora Mask even more~ :3

I've always liked Majora's Mask more, but to be honest I prefer the top down Zelda games.

I don't know if you'd consider this 'old', but Spirit Tracks is among my favourites.
Yeah, the older games used to be brutal in general. I played enough of them to know that, but they have their own charm XD

That sounds a bit like Fire Embelm, since it has two games, one that's good for anyone willing to enter the series, while the other is hardcore :D

Oui!!! Don't forget about the lovely remake of Crash Team Racing this week. I plan to play it with my friends soon. I am finding myself getting more & more of these remakes, so I won't be surprised if I ended up getting Medevil.

I played one of these top down Zelda games, the NES one. I remember finishing 2-3 shrines at least, but then I stopped. It was fun at the time.

Spirit Tracks is old by my standards, and it will keep getting older as time passes by, lool :D

Ahaha~ Mega drive overload XD

It was one of my favorite consoles. I so liked Sonic games, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe (mostly played 2).

I didn't play many Mickey games on it, but I played Alladin, Lion King & Pocahontas on it.

I am surprised you didn't' play Mortal Kombat on it. It was one of the best series on it~

Twisted Metal. Did I talk about how much I love Twisted Metal on this forum? I think not. Well, I love that franchise. Especially Black.

I was actually looking for prints to put on a t-shirt when I found this:

Great art, but never do that again, please...

I'll be playing a lot of older games now that I got my Raspberry Pi to work. If anyone has any suggestions they're greatly appreciated.

Anyone remember Super Pang? Insanely fun game.

You should play Chinatown Wars, then. It remains the highest rated game on the DS to this very day, because Chrono Trigger was sleeping or something.

I wouldn't trust aggregate reviews that much, though. They place Phantom Hourglass well above Spirit Tracks, and having played both I can tell you that's a load of bs.

The older GTA games are good. I'll have to add some of them to Retropie. PSP won't work, but PSX emulation is flawless. Tested Twisted Metal 1 today, and I'm glad to say I'm as terrible as I remember xD

The ones I played were only Tales of Symphonia, Vesperia and Abyss (I think these ones tend to be in top 3 - which is great!) I only got the games that are part of Nintendo consoles, but let me know which one I should play next if I one day get a PS4 ;-;

Story wise - Symphonia
Gameplay wise - Vesperia

Tbh I dont remember much about Abyss, so I think I'll re-play that xD

Symphonia 2 was alright for me, I just wished it would include more customization with the original cast. I wasn't a big fan of the monster collecting, but I think the story made sense as a follow-up to the Symphonia 1.

There was a lot to do in Vesperia, but the ending of the story was just meh. They killed the bad guy, and then done. xD
