| This is a tough one. I'm gonna vote for L. Lawleit from Death Note. Even though he had little to no knowledge about the Death Note, he still managed to one-up Light quite a few times, and some of his plans were pure genius. Others that are close would be Shikamaru Nara from Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden, and Conan Edigawa from Case Closed/Detective Conan. |

| In the ways of his jutsus, I do suppose that Shikamaru would have the upper hand in facing against L. due entirely to his inexperience with ninjutsu. On the other hand, L. did quickly discover the basics of the Death Note without even knowing it existed. Therefor, as did Temari, L. would be able to determine quickly the range of Shikamaru's attacks based entirely on being aware of his surroundings. Have you watched Death Note? If not, it would explain why you can't gauge L.'s intelligence, quick reasoning, and strategic capabilities. Unlike Naruto, Death Note is almost purely a strategic anime. Surely if L. can succede in Death Note, he could one-up Shikamaru who has to concentrate his efforts on his physical attributes as well as his mind. That is to say if it were purely a battle of wits. |

| Well, this is really a debatable subject because we don't know every single character..Now, I would belive alot of people are equal as appointed to different things. I mean, you put L up against Kenshin in a sword fight, who do you honestly think would win? |

| Well there you go. You did not specify that. You said who is the "smartest," to me that implys out of everything. In order for an argument to appel, you would need to set a certain scenario for each character to debate as to wheather would would come out on top. |

| Once again, not really. Say the argument is between L and Shikamaru. The person who supports L would have to say why his detictive and reasoning intelligence is better than Shikamaru's strategic intelligence, and vica versa. |

| With out a topic, there is no argument. So by saying who's better, L or Shikamru? There wouldn't be much of anything due to the fact we don't know what we are arguing for...Sure, We are arguing who's better, but in what? L is better in alot of things than Shikamaru and Vise versa, just like your better then me in alot of things, but I'm better then you in alot of things. |
