I've read arc 4 in the WN (well, most of it) but only now I've realized why Echidna created two great spirits. Since discussing it would include spoilers from future LNs, I can't reveal the reason :-/ And I'm almost certain this is the final loop in this arc. |

You gave the impression you did, since vol10 in english has yet to be released, and you seemed to refer to have read WN before, but this post isnt concerning the WN. |

Oh yeah, I had forgotten, a rare example of a LN with official translation to other than english and its translation way ahead of the english release. Seriously, fuck yenpress BS. Same for Tate no Yuusha official's, that one's company is also taking too long, delaying volumes quite alot. A reason I still favor fantranslations that when the material is great put alot of effort and translate way faster (and still nicely enough). |

Yeah, all of that is more or less similar to the WN and vol 13 should indeed start the final loop. Man I'll really jealous you're that far ahead lol |

| As a start, this volume is easily the best begging ever in an LN volume, from that cliffhanger... extremely satisfying. I already knew Satella's motivations, face, and reveal when I went to check the wiki back in 2018 after seeing S1, but that is unlikely the situation for most, to naturally stumble upon this all, so much development and fascinating answers (with more questions given), PEAK PEAK~~ I was emotionally invested in this scene like few times ever in the series, which already has tons of highlights, not an easy feat to achieve. I always doubted that Emilia was Satella, read both wiki pages multiple times over the years, knew that illustration for the face reveal, always believing the writer was just throwing us out for a loop, to confuse us invest us further! After reading word by word everything by myself, seeing Subaru's further actions towards Satella and then Emilia, adding to that, clues like both having the same height and VA... to me, unquestionably, Emilia sometime in the future WILL become Satella or the order for something his reversed?! Satella knows how to bypass time with her magic. That Satella is Emilia, for it to be something I genuinely feel like the truth when it was all laid before me all these years, it is groundbreaking, only adding further to the investment in this series, wanting it to see all explanation and resulting impact someday. People can come up with theories that she isn't Satella, but read these word by word, IMO Tappei is trolling us right in front of our faces, leaving the final confirmation to much later on, but this does help with the mystery aspect for Re:Zero, so I am fine with this choice, I forgive him. This was the biggest shock and reveal thus far, if I m indeed correct, to accept she is Satella, one of the peaks for this series, right at the start of this volume~~ Roswaal revealing he was the assassin's contractor made sense, outside that boring chapter, and like, this clown is revealing himself to be more villainess than the real villains of the plot so far! LOOL Subaru's resolution to get it done in this loop was a sight to see, it adds tension, he can't fail anymore if he dies in this loop not achieving the results, game over. Puck's sudden development and the writer trying to explain was kinda confusing, I guess I should have finished Frozen Bond before watching this... he seems gone for good, this was not properly handed IMO, out of nowhere, to force Emilia to grow up, which I m fine with but to reach such an outcome, suddenly without proper build-up, meh... - Otto's chapter was boring, it all plays on Garfiel's development too but I just wanted to focus more on Subaru now facing Emilia differently, realizing he was the one that least trust her in this situation (understandable due to his awareness of the loops and returning) The "The Reason I Trust You" chapter was a welcoming high after such an incredible start and then slowing down, amazing, their conversation was adorable and heartfelt, then he goes up and kisses her... I was not expecting it to come to happen again so soon, and I love that, just adorable, hopefully, romance should progress faster than I expected~~ (my future self from reading volume 16 wants to shit on naive thoughts so freaking much, but I will leave my pure MAIDEN feelings at the time unaltered) I liked to see Garfiel decided to clear the trial as well, with his development moving forth clearing a trial, it was fast but good because I would be bored otherwise. Emilia will clear the last trial for sure, but the sudden realization that the 3 challenges are going to be cleared by a joint effort of Subaru, Garfiel, and Emilia in turn, was not expecting it but felt good. (once again shame on my naive thought process, seems like I had the wrong impression here, not altering this either, let the salt roll out on the next volume discussion) This volume was very unbalanced, it was an interesting read to me, but the middle had tons of slow parts that dragged it down, but by the end, a really strong volume, that manages to shake the plot in a way I was not expecting with Satella's reveal. All the volumes in this arc so far have been above a certain amount of quality, such an awesome reading experience thus far, hella crazy~~ Mod edit: title changed |
