I'd been wondering recently why Sansha Mendan hadn't been adapted yet, especially with current trends being what they are. I was super excited when I saw it in the seasonal listings just now, and was ready to set a reminder for the release date. I quite liked the character designs in the novel, and the routes descended quite nicely into madness.

And then I checked the studio listing.

I cannot fathom why they'd hand this VN adaptation to PoRO of all studios. They'll neither be capable to adapt the tension of the novel, nor the visual appeal. It'll look just the same as all the other PoRO adaptations, and feel rather floppy in general.
Looking back, I don't even think I've enjoyed a PoRO release since 2015, and that was more due to character designs being a little more interesting than usual one time.

The last BISHOP adaptations PoRO did were Kuro no Kyoushitsu and Yakata: Kannou Kitan. The latter I enjoyed, though with gripes about the copy-paste character designs, the former was just as forgettable as anything else they did since. They're not a studio that can adapt darker, more depraved settings at all, in my experience.

I might be petty here, but speaking solely for myself, I'd rather had gotten no adaptation of Sansha Mendan at all, with the benefit of (unfulfilled) hope, than have PoRO churn out another mass-produced, copy-paste job with a few different haircolors from last time. Can they even depict adults at this point, seeing how my favorite route featured an actual mother? Putting a bit of lipstick on the same character designs as students doesn't really do it...

Apologies if this is a bit more rant-y than intended. It's simply frustrating to see. I doubt I'm the only one disappointed, judging by the comments on previous PoRO productions.

What I'll say is this, though: Check out the Visual Novel, no matter which way this turns out. It's good, and delivers what's on the tin (while PoRO don't even stay true to the covers on their DVD/BDs...). The novel is fully translated as well.

I like this visual novels too and I admit I was surprised that PoRO was making the anime but at the same time this studio tend to make more than one episode so I don't mind at all

I thought I'm the only one who noticed PoRo character design yes all of their adaptions are the same character design! they just changing hair, eye colors only and hair styles that's why every time I saw new hentai animation when I saw PoRo art style without a doubt! it's fucking PoRo studio! anyways. recently I noticed every time there is new adaptions PoRo studios always has to be picked! damn! well TBH the only thing PoRo is wrong about it is there character design. well if you watch all of their adaptions you will noticed it the thing they only do is changing the hairstyle and eye colors. I was wondering why PoRo is the most picked studios when it comes to make new anime hentai adaptions? does PoRo have cheaper price when you let them do animation? or people just really loves their art style? to me their animations is not that bad but what I got pissed only the character design well you can't feels comfortable since you are watching new release but you can also see some of oni chichi faces on it and that's sick of it

Well, the OVA is out and it's about as bad as I had feared. It entirely lacks the atmosphere of the novel, doesn't come close to broaching the more depraved scenes, and without even just a little intro scene to hint at it getting more hardcore than this, I don't even expect follow-ups to reach any sort of corruption scene adaptation.

The episode is barely 20 minutes, with two minute credits before the final scene, has no real build up, only features two characters, doesn't even tease the other 6 (not even the protagonist's partner in crime at the school), any sort of resistance is superficial at best....

I think this is the first time (well, ignoring other PoRo titles) that a threesome with bdsm elements and what qualifies as assault is actually incredibly boring. The snapping point may as well be nonexistent and everything feels unsuitably lighthearted and cheery. They managed to make something incredibly tense and kinky feel like the blandest vanilla scene - and I'll go to bat for well-done vanilla any day..

This first episode makes me dread the Mifuyu route...
