Mm, the Kotobuki really are clever for their innovative ideas.

Not much change to the usual aerial dogfights although I did feel like this episode is more intense. Chika also had more excitement to fight than usual. Good thing they accomplished their mission.

Well seems this time the enemy was though very though which made it a good episode.
And for those wondering the stuff on the windscreen at the start of the episode was oil and not blood.
Heard stories about pilots being blinded by and oil leeks in WW2 era aircraft one of the drawbacks of having your engine in the front.

Anyway we learned a bit more about Kai and her relative, she is still as stoic as ever tho.

Oh, so that was oil on the windscreen, I thought it was strange that they wanted to show blood in black. Thanks @Aversa. :)

Good episode again.

I liked it when Kirie and Chika were Shadowing Kate. xD

The flight sequences were great as always and it seems likes our opponents this time were actually quite skilled.
Kate and Kirie pulled of some nice teamwork and they were able to save the oil field. :)

The explosion was quite cool.

I think Kate is my least favorite main character. I don't find her kind endearing.

I'm not a real fan of this setting (besides the obvious nonsense of no oceans), since it feels like a schizoid mixture of 20th century artifacts in a desert. Why are there Western (movie genre) style posters on the walls in the background? Did the Japanese bring these with them too? Was this a Wild West planet like Trigun before the Japanese trucked in Second Industrial Revolution technology? There doesn't seem to be a lot of trace of whatever culture existed here before, except the written language.

The world as animated feels lacking in life, even in cities (ep 4). In this episode, it seems like Nanko has only one resident from the look of things.

So, I looked up if a fire fighting bomb is possible and apparently it is due to the removal of oxygen from the explosion pressure, and was already done in 2018 in Sweden. I doubt anything in Nanko should have survived the explosion though. What are those houses made out of, adamantium?

Standon Oil = Standard Oil?

Yet more wonderful camera work. This episode was a little gloomier that most. I did like the huge info dumps we got, though.

I love how this show does it's world building. So we met Kate's brother who, kinda unsurprisingly, was also a pilot. Too bad he got messed up researching these Yufang people or whatever/whoever it was. I'd say we'll learn more about that as the series go on.

There was a line by Chika that really caught my eye when she was talking about the book her brother read to her. She said "When we lived down below" which really intrigued me. Down below as in... underground perhaps? Or just south a lot? Idk might be a translation thing and not something to think about.

Another good episode. This time they have the enemy outnumbered 4 vs 7. However, they are at a disadvantage because their opponents are more maneuverable and heavily armored.

Hmm, so that Adolfo is actually a nice guy. Looks like he really wanted to help the old man. Kate really skilled at those turns, and she can shoot just as good from behind.

Looking forward to next week.

That seems to be the implication here (more on this below).

The grand implication is that some event in our world ported a significant section of Japanese aviation engineers (sometime during 1944, if the N1K1-J is present) into another world. Once there, they essentially introduced an industrial revolution to the world, constructing a city which basically served as the foundation for most industry in the world. It's not stated how long they stayed, but it's been 70 years since they disappeared; it's implied that the knowledge of how to build new aircraft disappeared with them. Clearly, however, someone has found out how and is equipping air-pirate squadrons to enforce their will.

The world as animated feels lacking in life, even in cities (ep 4). In this episode, it seems like Nanko has only one resident from the look of things.

It's a product of the use of heavy 3d animation, but yes--compared to Girls und Panzer, the world as a whole lacks life. But perhaps that's the point.

I'll be honest and say that this episode nearly lost me; one does not introduce what amounts to the main story in episode 7 of a 12 episode show...

an IED to wipe-out fuel flame?!? am I missing something here?
Those fighter planes are pros! and Even these girls are having a hard time dealing with them! damn! SFX is just os top notch!
The Character of Kate is more on the scientific calculative type of girl!
5/5.

Well, this time, we learned a bit more about Kate's life and the situation regarding his brother, which was nice to know because since the beginning of the series, Kate was as interesting to me as a rock.

All in all, it was a pretty tense episode, especially during the flight sequences.

Also in this episode, the narration is interesting not only when there are aerial fights, but also before and after. However the air battles are also very engaging this time, besides being always the best part of the episode. The fact that it is not yet another self-contained story is good because it makes the wait for the next episode more interesting.

Lol, i see that two guys from episode 1 based, its A Nanko gaz company, established the freelance sky bodyguard crew Nazarin's. So, their father gave a gasoline stock for the squadron full of year, eh? Interesting for adding some information when needed like that.

Yeah, the situations get more complex. Not about just usual bandit or sky pirates in primary. But, the others problem appear, like company blackmailling each other, power struggle, and battling over oil refinery were all such a great example how messed up the whole world. And ofc, all of them be solved by aerial combat, a dogfight. That thing only lead to one thing: the clicheness. A cliche story with typical battle Shounen, adding an aircrafts parade as the only one unique item they had to bring more hype. But to me, it can't make me satisfied enough.

They need more strong progress to the storyline to avoid some clicheness i pointed it out before. Like that Yufang teritory in mystery. What is that? They need to explore it more than this episode to bring satisfaction. So the show not only focusing squadron dance in the sky. But the vision must be clear to see whats next. Because, yeah, its not good to only hope for the randomness. So i really wish some change in the future story of the Kotubuki squadron telltales.

The good part here when Kylie and Kate partnering to drive those decent bomber plane. And yeah, the maginificent Kate, with her brilliant ideas, finish her job with so much satisfaction. Saved the refinery, and eyed the future with nice small smile. Ohkay!
