Upon seeing Melkar begin its tail swipe, Edward would leap skywards (no sword, though). Though Melkar knew someone was behind it, it wasn’t a teacher lacked eyes in the back of its head, so it was incapable of seeing Edward’s exact position. All it could do was try to angle its tail slightly mid-swing, which proved to be fruitless. That failed, but Melkar would get him next time. Edward then tried to leap backwards again as Melkar attempted to crush him underfoot. This evasion attempt was considerably less fruitful though. The feet would slam down, pinning Edward in place long enough for Melkar to bend down and begin its lunch. The meat was rather tough though; perhaps it had been overcooked. Even after all that, Edward continued breathing, not that he would continue for very long or have any real course of action. Humans could be weirdly stubborn like that. (Edward: -20, -25, -27 Health (Survival Drive activated)) Alexander didn't make any attempt to protect himself from the shockwave and resulting water wave the Hapaeru produced, save for trusting in the strength of his armor to protect him. The water slammed into him, causing a hefty amount of pain despite his armor. Then again, his head being exposed probably didn't help. (Alexander: -35 Health) (Alexander's Armor: -26 Durability) (Alexander and Celestia have taken 5% of their Max Health as poison damage.) (Start of Turn (Melkar): +5 Prana, +25 Stamina) (Start of Turn (Hapaeru): +? Prana, +? Stamina) Reaction Phase (Melkar): Well, Melkar was already chowing down, and it wasn't being attacked by other foes, so there wasn't any real reason to not continue. Given that Edward was already incapacitated, he wouldn't be able to really react at all as Melkar's teeth finally finished him off. (Edward: -26 Health + Defeated) As Edward’s now truly lifeless corpse shattered into particles, Melkar felt a surge of new energy coursing through its body. Perhaps its lunch had possessed a considerable amount of stored power that it just couldn't use. Well, anyway, Melkar wouldn’t turn down extra juice. Arising from its crouch, Melkar would begin turning both head and body to search for its other targets. (Attack: -5 Stamina) Action Phase (Melkar): Evidently, two of the three people who remained were trying to make a break for it. That wouldn't do. Melkar's huge legs once again began to churn, stomping through the mud as it got off to its usual slow start. Another roar emanated from its maw, but none of the SOULs spoke Bellowese, so it was impossible to say what sort of intent the bellow had. Also of note: it was difficult to see at that range, but it looked like the person Melkar just ate was also off in the distance by the girl with wings. (Move) Reaction Phase (Hapaeru): Seeing Alex move in closer, the Hapaeru hastily leapt backwards to to escape the incoming strike. Alex's vertical strike was fortuitous for him in that the Hapaeru's evasion actually took it upwards somewhat rather than straight backwards, but even that wasn't sufficient to fully outmatch the Hapaeru’s superior mobility. As such, Alexander only landed a light hit, not even enough to really Stun the Hapaeru. (Hapaeru: -9 Health) Alexander would take off running, looking behind periodically, not that looking behind did anything productive on its own. Naturally, the Hapaeru wasn’t just going to sit still and let him escape. Hopping in pursuit, the Hapaeru would swiftly approach to within two meters before launching out its tongue to grab at Alexander and reel him back in. (Counter + Attack x1: -35 Stamina) Action Phase (Hapaeru): Should Alexander have been caught, the Hapaeru would begin to chomp down multiple times while curling its tongue even farther around Alexander, trying to keep him locked in place. Should Alexander have escaped the initial grabbing, the Hapaeru would continue to chase him and try again to catch him with its tongue. (Attack x?: -? Stamina) Intermission All the other Calamity Seeds would continue on their merry ways, pursuing the SOULs who had invaded their swamp marsh. Seeing that the first Hapaeru was already busy with Alexander, the various bee CS would decide to leave him to his froggy demise and chase after the fleeing girls. All the others continued moving much as they had been: moving in on the nearest humanoid they could find. Eukina and Arona both considered at their respective moments firing at the CS approaching them. Both, however, opted not to. Eukina initially decided against because any targets were still farther out than she’d have a half-decent chance of hitting with an arrow while maintaining high running speed. Arona chose not to fire because no CS was “too close to them” yet. Eukina again didn’t fire for the same reasons as before, compounded by the fact that it’d be difficult to wield a bow while carrying a person. |

Alexander Reinhardt Health: 41/200 Prana: 35/110 Stamina: 15/100 Status: Poisoned(5% per turn, Turn 4/5) Luna:40/40 Armor of Order:4/30 STR: C VIT: D WIL: E RES: E SPD: C AGL: E PER: D REC: E (Last 2 turns, Damage received: Tongue attack:-25 Health(170->145) Frog bodyslam:-49 Health(145>96) Poison Damage:-10 Health(96->86) Tsunami:-35 Health(86->51) and -26 Durability(Armor of Order: 30->4) Poison Damage:-10 Health(51->41) ) (Start of turn:+5 Prana(30->35) and +10 Stamina(5->15) Alex could feel that Order Restoration wasn't even able to activate at this point, with how far he'd depleted his prana reserves. Reaction Phase: He got drenched in mud by the last attack, but that wasn't anything he wasn't used to. It was taking all these hits, combined with still being poisoned, that really was just taking away what dwindling amounts of life force he could still muster. As he felt his strike whiff and hit air, he managed to stop himself from smashing the sword into the ground with the momentum. As his opponent had jumped up and away, Alex knew running while it was airborne was his only chance at an opening. It'd jumped too far up to land quickly, so Alex ended up getting past it and off to a decent start in running before it could turn around and pursue, as described in the conductor post. This time, it was just taking a direct path towards him, and his speed clearly wasn't enough to outrun it. That's why as it started to get close, since he hardly had any breath left to attempt any more evading, Alex stopped himself and turned to face the approaching frog. He knew at this range it'd either try to squash him or use its tongue. Getting into a ready stance to slash, he held his sword held up vertically and somewhat diagonally forwards, and trained his focus trained on the frog's mouth. Alex was now fully standing still and facing the approaching frog, and saw it go for him with its tongue again. Remembering the range of its tongue from the last time, Alex precisely and swiftly swung his sword to diagonally sever the approaching tongue as it went for his body, taking full advantage of his 1.5m greatsword range to prevent any hit. After slashing the tongue, Alex wouldn't let up, going for a stab this time at the mouth, hitting the tongue in that same stab if he could.(Attackx2) If slashing had not cut through the tongue but it somehow endured the hit and was now sticking to his sword, and probably trying to wrap its tongue around him, Alex would try to take advantage of his new leverage over its tongue. His slash would have pushed the tongue so it was a bit to the side of its planned trajectory, even if it stuck to his sword. Using his armored left foot, he'd kick its massive round chin as hard as possible directly away from him, making the kick have a good length so it would have decent force behind it. With any luck, the frog's tongue would be severed as the Hapaeru's body was pushed away enough.(Attackx2) Alex's armor adding weight combined with the difficulty to move around in the marsh terrain and his tall stature would hopefully allow him to keep his footing while performing said maneuver, even if the Hapaeru tried to reel him in. Action Phase: If he had managed to hit the Hapaeru again after cutting through its tongue with his sword(although due to CS/SOUL ethereal properties, the tongue probably was never actually cut off, just cut through), Alex would decide that running away again wasn't so bright an idea when he was almost completely exhausted, and try to recover his breathing rhythm while having his sword ready for whatever the Hapaeru would do next. (Standby) If he had instead gotten his sword stuck on the tongue but managed to kick the frog hard enough so that its tongue got loose, he'd still do the same thing. He just didn't have the stamina to follow up on the opening, and with his opponent being clearly faster, taking distance would both achieve nothing and allow the enemy to hit him for free. (Standby) Alex could really have used some help right about now, and he'd be ready to react and take advantage of any opening an ally might create with a projectile, if they were even at a distance where they could do that. With the number of approaching hostiles, Alex's distance from any possible portals, and the already present giant rock creature, it wasn't looking good for Alex. He'd seen the Summoning Throne work before at bringing back a dead ally, but there were plenty of cases where SOULs he knew just froze and had not been resummoned so far. It wasn't really certain if his allies would even have time to safely use the more-guaranteed resurrection magic on him at this point. All Alexander could do now was fight as well as he could to try to get out of this situation, and the best he could do to achieve that goal was kill this frog before the other CS he saw got near him, and make a run towards the wall again once he got an opening by killing it. |

Lysett Blythe Health: 124/150 Prana: 80/200 Stamina: 60/100 Astral Gear: 0 STR: E VIT: E WIL: C RES: E SPD: E AGL: E PER: D REC: E Status Effects:
Wearing a light blue T-shirt, black short and short boots. Previous turn:
Turn Start: +5 Prana / +10 Stamina Reaction Phase Lysett was quickly back into the fray, and things looked as bad up close as they did from atop the walls. Arona and Eukina were already close by, but Alexander seemed to be in trouble as he divided his attention between fighting and running. She would start flying towards Alexander, shouting something to the duo as she did. "This portal leads up the wall, so just get inside while I help Alexander out!" She'd attempt to dodge any incoming CS on the way there, using Warp Step to go past them and dodge any attacks she was able to notice should there be the need to do so. If they were still too far to reach her, she'd instead use the teleports to close the gap as quickly as possible (unless flying was more efficient / just as efficient as teleporting, in which case she'd continue flying and save her Prana for later.) Move + 2x Warp Step (9 Prana / 10 Stamina each) Action Phase If she was able to reach Alexander in time (she was fast enough and he was still alive): "Alexander! Stay close to me, I'll teleport us out of here!" Lysett'd grab his arm and immediately teleport the both of them as close to the portal as she could, aiming at the spots with the least concentration of monsters. Move + up to 2x Warp Step with ally (26 Prana / 20 Stamina each) If Alexander was still too far away, she'd keep reducing the remaining distance until she was close enough to teleport besides him, before immediately teleporting the both of them out. Move + 1x Warp Step with ally (26 Prana / 20 Stamina) + 1x Warp Step (9 Prana / 10 Stamina) If it came to worst case scenario and Alexander was turned to particles at any point during this turn, Lysett'd instead regretfully turn around and chain teleports towards the portal entrance as quickly as possible, attempting to avoid the monsters just like before. Move + up to 4x Warp Step depending on remaining actions for on the phase (9 Prana / 10 Stamina each) |

Stamina: ??? Attributes: • STR: ? • VIT: ? • WIL: ? • RES: ? • SPD: ? • AGL: ? • PER: ? • REC: ? Active Effects: Amphibious Form I've got no clue what dafuq dis is, Elv told me to use it. As people are retreating/already escaped and most of the CS are highly unlikely to actually run any real risk of depleting their Statistics or anything like that, there will be some changes. Obviously, if your character isn’t in the combat zone, you need not post with them. Likewise, unless you tell me, I will assume that you're not going to post. It probably won’t help me post faster, but at least we won’t wait on somebody who isn’t planning on posting. The second part is just to save me a bit of time, effort, and space. I'd rather not make headers for all 20 some odd CS, especially when they probably aren't going to be running out of energy. Same for not using the explicit phase format; it'll have the same result if I just write it as a general block rather than going phase by phase. The exception being if there's more intense combat, like how the Hapaeru fighting Alex will stay in normal format. With Eukina running all out (or at least as all-out as one can go when princess carrying someone), she and Arona continued their metaphorical flight towards the portal Lysett created, aided by the slight tugging of the current as the submerged portal aperture doubled as a drain, releasing a steady stream of marsh water onto the top of the great wall. Arona fired a lightning bolt towards the posse of small CS off to her (or at least Eukina's) right. The pack of reptilian CS moved as one as they split down the middle, each half flowing out to either their right or left to create a corridor in the middle for the bolt to pass through harmlessly. That being said, the two nearest the rear felt more than a small tingle as the bolt connected with the surface of the water behind them, dispersing through the water and seeking out the path of least resistance. (CS that I actually haven't named yet x2: -35 Health) The two crispy critters squealed in pain, causing the group to stop and about face. The pack searched for signs of the mysterious attacker from the rear, but found nothing. Thus, they turned back towards the enemies they knew of, once again beginning their pursuit. The delay had cost them precious time though. Before they could intercept the two girls, the girls leapt through the portal. From the CS's perspectives, though, they had somehow moved into the ground. Without an understanding of how portals worked, they were wary of such sorcery. Even if the small ones had no experience with portals yet, Melkar had seen them used several times in this battle. They seemed to be some sort of magecraft to move quickly. However, Melkar couldn't spot where the two girls had emerged. Thus, Melkar let loose a growl, commanding its smaller brethren to stop. Without knowing the destination, there could be an ambush of some kind waiting on the far end after all. Besides, there were still victims to be had in the marsh. (Alexander and Celestia have taken 5% of their Max Health as poison damage. The poison has now worn out.) (Start of Turn (Melkar): +5 Prana, +25 Stamina) (Start of Turn (Hapaeru): +? Prana, +? Stamina) Reaction Phase (Hapaeru): As the Hapaeru chased after Alexander, it fired its tongue out to grab at Alexander, only to be met with a cruel blade. Had the human no heart? To ruin a tongue is a crime unto itself; what if that sword damaged its taste buds? How would it enjoy his flavor? (Hapaeru: -40 Health) Well, despite the intense pain in its gustatory organ, the Hapaeru wasn't going to let up. Rather than trying to resume its original course, the long tongue wrapped itself tightly around Alex's sword. Though this meant that the Hapaeru was wounding itself to get a solid grip, a solid grip it had. (Hapaeru: -20 Health) Using said grip, the Hapaeru took advantage of Alexander's next attack. As he struck out with a kick, the Hapaeru would push the front/middle of his sword down with the middle of its tongue and flip the middle/back skywards with the front of its tongue. While it was true that Alexander's armor made him somewhat heavier, the combination of the frog's superior strength and Alexander's kick in progress would mean one of two things. Either Alexander could release his sword, allowing him to successfully finish the kick, or he could retain his grip on his sword at the expense of being flipped into the air from the leverage. (Attack x1: -5 Stamina) Action Phase (Hapaeru): The Hapaeru's next action would largely depend on Alexander's choice. Were he launched into the air, the Hapaeru would back up a short distance. What goes up must come down after all, and Alexander was no different. Mouth agape, it would position itself to receive it's own pass and be ready to crunch it's way through him once he had fallen. If Alexander had released his sword, the Hapaeru would've received a kick to the side of its face. Realistically, it was more an annoyance than a significant threat, but it was distracting all the same. Between that and taking the time to adjust its grip on the sword and hurl it off into the distance, Alex would have time to reset his stance and breathe for a moment before the frog could strike again. Strike it did though. Facing back towards Alexander, the Hapaeru closed the last of the distance to the now-weaponless knight. With its large stature and superior speed, it would engulf Alexander as it chomped down past his head and into his torso. Proceeding onward, it would flip Alexander upside down as it lifted its mouth skyward, continuing to dig teeth into flesh as Alexander slipped deeper into its massive form. (Attack x?: -? Stamina) Lysett, after opening her new portal and forcing her body through the water flooding out of the opening, would start to race towards Alexander with the combination of her levitation and teleportation. Teleport she did, for while levitating was faster than walking, teleporting was faster still. Not to mention it was useful for avoiding the incoming attacks. Without teleporting, Lysett would've found it difficult to avoid being relentlessly penetrated by the swarm of (Il)Lumibees sending massive amounts of lasers after Lysett. Still though, despite her best efforts, Lysett would not be able to reach Alexander with her previous actions alone. With Eukina and Arona gone, the remaining CS would be free to turn towards Alexander and Lysett. Alexander was already more than a little busy, so for the moment all other CS save the first Hapaeru would turn towards and begin closing in on Lysett. Edit: Map now updated |

Alexander Reinhardt Health: 31/200 Prana: 40/110 Stamina: 30/100 Status: Poisoned(5% per turn, Turn 5/5) Luna:40/40 Armor of Order:4/30 STR: C VIT: D WIL: E RES: E SPD: C AGL: E PER: D REC: E (Damage received: Tongue attack:-25 Health(170->145) Frog bodyslam:-49 Health(145>96) Poison Damage:-10 Health(96->86) Tsunami:-35 Health(86->51) and -26 Durability(Armor of Order: 30->4) Poison Damage:-10 Health(51->41) Poison Damage:-10 Health(41->31) ) (Standby Last Turn:+10 Stamina(10->20) (Start of turn:+5 Prana(35->40) and +10 Stamina(20->30) Reacton Phase: Alex didn't expect the frog to try to throw him, and just tried to hold onto his sword, but due to the frog's strength he couldn't stay on the ground, getting thrown into the air. This looked like it'd be it for him if he got chomped, and he doubted he'd even be able to guard against an attack like this. With how slim a thread of life he had left from the poison and all these impacts, he might as well just bet everything on one last attack. If it didn't succeed, he was probably just dead. So as Alex reached the peak of his midair height, he hoped the frog would keep its mouth open, and swung downwards at the frog with the last of his strength, sending a Slicing Wave into its mouth.(Slicing Wave) Action Phase: If that hadn't killed the frog, he probably now got chomped on by the frog's jaws. "Gah!"He thought this would be a fatal blow, but as a SOUL he oddly didn't take a fatal bone breaking hit from this. Not that it didn't still hurt a lot. At that rate, all he could really do was just try to stab his way out of this, although he had almost no stamina left anyways, using the last of his breath on trying to hit its upper jaw if he could hit it from the inside.(Attackx1) If the frog actually died from the wave, Alex would just try to run away, towards Lysett. He wasn't going to waste time reprimanding her for wasting her life in trying to save him. all he could really do here was just tell her what she needed to know, in between heavy breaths due to the lack of stamina. "I can't dodge them anymore, you're going to need to teleport me." Besides that, all he could really do is just try to escape with Lysett, he didn't bother looking back at the CS approaching behind him since he couldn't evade them anyways. He had nothing else to do with his prana, so Alex would use some of it on a new armor, dispelling his old one.(Armor of Order:-15 Prana(30->15) and -10 Health)(31->21) |

(Start of Turn (Melkar): +5 Prana, +25 Stamina) (Start of Turn (Hapaeru): +? Prana, +? Stamina) Reaction Phase (Hapaeru): The Hapaeru was no fool; it could clearly see that Alexander wasn’t about to surrender peacefully despite the inevitableness of his situation. It was willing to bet that Alexander wasn’t strong enough to defeat it, though. Not with how little previous attacks had done. Thus, the Hapaeru simply accepted the incoming blow to its mouth, remaining ready to eat Alexander the moment he was close. (Hapaeru: -83 Health) And as Alexander “landed”, he felt the frog’s powerful jaw clamp down around him. His already overstressed armor shattered with practically no effort from the Hapaeru, leaving only thin clothes between the sharp teeth and his flesh. Sadly, clothes were not an adequate defense; Alexander would find the strength leaving his body as his ethereal form started to break down. Only sheer willpower and human tenacity remained to keep his body together. (Alexander’s Armor: -4 Durability + Destroyed) (Alexander: -31 Health + Survival Drive activated) With Alexander’s body already past his normal limits, there was no realistic hope of his salvation within the split second it took for the Hapaeru to chomp twice more, shattering Alexander’s body into countless delicious particles. (Alexander: -30, -33 Health + Dead) (Attack x2: -10 Stamina) Lysett, unfortunately, didn’t fare any better. It was most decidedly a bad time to be struck by the Freeze Occurrence. Well, such was life. And such would be her death. Few people would’ve been able to endure the sheer number of attacks that collided with, pierced, tore, or otherwise mangled her form; a fate so horrible and inevitable that Alatar isn’t even going to bother trying to calculate precise damage. The swarm of bees unleashed a torrent of beams from one side, blasting her away while the second Hapaeru approached and slammed its tongue into her head with enough force that a mortal’s skull would’ve instantly been reduced to a disgusting pile of blood and bone. A bit late to the party, the pack of small CS that Arona had fired at earlier were at least close enough to try to snatch some of Lysett particles out of the air. Having already been on their last legs and with no way to renew themselves, the pair of portals snapped closed, sending one final surge of water out onto the battlements before disappearing from sight. A few of the CS turned towards the great Valindral Wall, wondering if they should try to catch the prey that fled that way, but such thoughts were suppressed by another command from their king. The mighty force of Calamity Seeds turned their backs to the Wall, moving deeper into the marsh at a relatively sedate pace and gradually splitting off from one another to go about their own business. Today was not the day to destroy that accursed barricade and consume the city. |

Intermission As Lysett's body disappeared into particles that in turn disappeared into the sky, three small splashes could be heard. Three small glass bottles filled with red liquid had fallen from where Lysett stood, dropping into the marsh. Their small size might make it difficult to find, but who knows? Perhaps some lucky person would one day stumble across two Minor Health Potions and a Regular Health Potion just waiting for a new owner. |
