I also see the empire as the bad guys here. Neighbor does not wish to share tech, so then you go war and kill them? Lazy bastards do not want to develop their own tech.

We don't know yet how it is to live on the empire's side and why they couldn't develop the same food technology as on soleil's side but imagine that your family is starving and you know your neighbor has a way to save your family but doesn't do anything. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't sit down and wait to die.

I wonder if they'll show us something like that actually. It's hard to believe they show us someone "nice" like the commander of the unit without giving us later a proper reason he has to fight for the empire.

If the anime is going to bring the message "war is bad", then the standard tropes like "good vs bad" and "mecha is cool" will only interfere. I hope that this show doesn't come on the same rake, then Mahouka c its "militarism is bad, but .. is still cool!".

Wow Stella is so cold. Well at least she's not heartless she ate the candy.
This show is actually depressing. They are trying to show consequences of war huh.

if there's war, chains of hatred won't end, for sure those kids would grow-up seeking only revenge...thus the cycle of hatred is unending!
4/5.

idk what is the context of this war, we're only shown both sides' trying to annihilate each other but for what reason? and the makers somehow expect us to sympathize with one of them without knowing the core of this war? i dont feel anything, this is just bad storytelling. the only reason i gave this show a chance was because of the girls' pretty face, but my patience is running out.. dropped

Am I only who doesn't like Stella that much lol.
Seriously how can anyone really smile during war zone, I guess it's her way of covering up the pain. I thought the episode was pretty good, I really like this series overall!!!

ps. i think the princess will help her to really be herself again, in this i hope i like alot more.

Damn. I really like this series so far. I like that they seems to have both sides perspectives of this war, and also touch upon the morality of war and such. I already like the characters of this side, especially the commander and Stella (her character design, personality and of course Hayamin voice XD). Heck, I maybe rooted more for the characters on this Empire side in near future (that Princess is cute and all, but yeah, that's all so far for me)

I wish it will be really good till the end (or at least decent), and will be a series where people would call it as underrated.

I agreed with you it's turn out to be very interesting series!!

I think Stella is smiling because that is her way to cope with the stress from being in the war. Well, I'm curious now how she and the princess will meet.

While I can empathize with soldiers, that want to go home, you have no right to complain about the length of a war which your side started.

"They are keeping everything for themselves". That's not how it works, fool. They have no obligation to share technology or knowledge, especially not with the enemy. That's most likely how Grandiga is spinning it: we are only suffering because the others don't want to share.

Apparently both nations are struggling since the soil on this planet seems to be infertile. In Grandiga it is intensified by their "military first" doctrine.

Finally, saving the orphans was an act of sheer hypocrisy. And that they destroyed the factory after stealing the device is unforgivable. That's not warfare, that's terrorism.

Stella is not entirely right in the head.

For an anniversary celebration, it looks like a rather poor showcase (technically or scenario-wise). At least, it could be an okay series.

3/5 I guess not every anniversary project can be Last Exile.

@thepath [6;6.9] seems fitting. Up to this episode, it looks like it does a fine job but nobody can"t say that it will end up being good or less than decent. For example, this being the 3rd out of 12eps, it seems that the project didn't take its eps number into account really well.

Interesting, new characters and Stella have a decent personality. Good episode, they show us more about the other side of the war. A bit of morally gray.

The orphans are ungrateful, while I understand that have suffered because of the war, they must be grateful pfff I hope they die.
All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

Sorry but I can't ignore how "easy" it was for a squad of six people to rob such important technological device from that facility. I was expecting a higher level in the security system and stuff but well.

That said, it was a decent episode although I'm a bit disappointed it wasn't a direct continuation of the events from last one. I really wanted to know about Yuuki's course of action after knowing Joshua died but it seems I'll have to wait for next episode.

And also, Stella's character is... rather peculiar to say the least but I guess it's to be expected from a soldier with a harsh past. The thing I wonder is how her path and Yuuki's will cross since she's a mere soldier and Yuuki, the princess...

Perspective of the enemy side, have to say the first half of them scouting the area was kinda boring but still nice to see those sides of a war. Stella seems like a pretty broken person hiding behind her smile, outside the old man I don't really care for the rest of the squad. Still think they are the bad guys for trying to steal of their neighbour country unless they will show some good reason later on.

So many brutal deaths in this episode.

Stella's behavior really surprised me. She's a very interesting character.

Poor Lana. :(
