----------------------------------------
Cool, we're getting focus on Kirito and Eugeo again in the fantasy world.

Looks like there's been a timeskip of at least two years. No doubt Kirito has improved his swordsmanship skills. Also got to see Liena this episode at the academy.

I'd say this episode is another important one to show Kirito's development. Not to mention, there's also Eugeo who is still trying to accomplish his own goals.

Back to main guy's trip with Eugeo guy. 2 years already?! They are in the school training sword fighting. The uniform looks a bit like the soldier outfit in first arc.

Parameter? Winning because one believes he/she can?

He cannot win against his female senpai, who cannot win against another guy.

Main guy got a new sword (?). "Monster"?

He's excited to practice with his new sword, and met that guy his senpai cannot defeat, who warned him not to practice without permission.

They ended up dueling.

inb4 angry Light novel readers start hating on this EP coz the whole Volume 10 Chapter 3, Zakkaria Tournament Getting completely skipped lol

Well it was important I guess coz of introduction of a new hidden person ... a cool bit of kirito and eugeo's life before they join the academy and making the whole show feel a bit more real like Real life by how they were living etc and the tournament and some more cool action from both eugeo and Kirito.
specially showing us eugeo's improvement.

but whatever, I still didn't watch EP7 yet so idk if they had any flash back on it or not :D

Edit :

btw even tho the author don't seems to like these scenes getting cut and comment about them each time saying things like "Poor Zink got his screen time cut :(" and such.

I think it's better for author if there is some cut scene here and there for the anime ... coz it make the anime-only viewer have more motivation for buying the light novel or manga lol
It's a win-win as long as the cut scene don't ruin the anime too much.
some scene like the AI Explanations should have been more for better understanding but i guess those will just make ppl bored if there is too much explanation.

author commented about last EP saying something like "AI Explanation and their reason of why they can't be used in war was not explained due to anime studio compressing the Ep, and i will try to explain later if the opportunity arrive" etc

They didn't outright skip it but referred back to it through a series of flashbacks. That entire chapter overall had nothing that cannot be down somewhere else, may it be "that character" or a more in depth insight into duels. It's cut fat that adds to the enjoyment yes but it's noting absolutely vital.

They clearly are forced to cut some corners in order to make the parts of the story that need to be adapted slowly and precisely work. If that means Zakkaria gets cut, then be my guest.

yeh i guess, I'm fine as long as they do a good job overall tbh.
I read the novels after all, so if they skip a bit here and there won't hurt me that much.
I'm guessing they are cutting a bit of part in here, so they can later focus more on the fights, coz specially after 2nd half, it's so full of battle.

Author just said something about new EP, after using 3 Translator i think this is it :

I'm sorry that the Zakkaria Arc was handled in flashback only, but it is necessary to choose the Episodes even though it's 4 cours, since there is 10 book
(I think 2 book per cours is the limit if you want to do it faithfully) but I think Zakkaria was the biggest cut.

I want to ask LN novel readers, how much contents did they skip?

I was hoping to see the actual adventure to expand the world of this new world, as well as seeing characters progressively getting stronger, as well as learning the mechanic of this world through showing during the adventure. Instead , we got an exposition dump, have a quick timeskip and characters become op from the get go, and all that's left is to show off how amazing Kirito is by dominating everyone else. (yawn)

Tbh I am disappointed.. (Even if I never read the LN before)

Two years have passed since their departure from the village huh. Its nice that Liena sempai finally makes her entrance into the arc. The training session between Kirito and Liena sempai was intense. Her weapon transformation was impressive. Liena's perception sure is impressive being able to pick up Kirito's hidden abilities. Guess even virtual worlds have rich idiots like Humbert. The gigas cedar branch sure transformed into quite the beautiful sword but the moment when Kirito swung it was just magical. The dual punishment from Uolo was unexpected but im curious to see how that goes. Another strong episode and while its unfortunate they skipped the farm and the tournament its at least more concise.

Tbh this setting is bit baffling to me too.
It just give reasons for Kirito's bullshit moment later on cuz "You have to be overconfident/ full of yourself" to become op.

They skipped one chapter i believe which covered their time at the farm and the tournament that gained them entry into the academy. But doing so allowed them to be more concise as it eliminated the need to do another timeskip.

Not much tbh. They skipped 1 chapter that introduced some characters, introduced the town and showed some fights. Nothing special and nothing that cannot be shown later on during flashbacks as they already did reference some of them. They basically removed some slice of life elements before those events to make the episode more action and important after the 2 previous plot-exposition episodes.

Solid episode. We have a 2 year timeskip and Kirito has gotten himself into a duel.

It's a decent episode but I hope SAO Alicization doesn't do too many timeskips like the original SAO did.

If you have watched the author's other work, Accel World, you would realize how Underworld provides the basis of how Accelerated World works in that anime. What Kirito referenced at in this episode is basically the primitive form of the Incarnate System from Accel World. You can google that if you want.

the thing is, Kirito is not really the best at using this, and unlike in Aincrad where only Asuna and Kirito were able to surpass the system with their will and moving while they should be paralyzed. in UnderWorld pretty much any strong person can use it ! both enemy and friends !

a timeskip of two years? considering how long this series is supposed to be, i wasnt expecting such timeskips
a little stain is all it took for kirito to get punished with a sword fight?
also, kirito seems to have all of his memories.
so why is he so fine with everything? why doesnt he want to find a way to go back to real life?
doesnt he want to go back to asuna and everyone else?

Like the LN readers said, they brought back the scene where Kirito gets the tree branch in order to forge his sword, but now I'm wondering something else.

I'm guessing that they did this because of pacing issues, but did they skip through some stuff? Personally I would have liked to gradually see Kirito and Eugeo's days in this academy during the 2 years (And even that tournament stuff) and get to know their seniors even more, but if it would have been a lot to cover, I understand why they started things here

I really really enjoyed this episode though and as you all can guess, I was pretty intrigued and engrossed in just about every aspect of this academy so I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens next and especially this duel

(I feel like Kirito will beat the first seat dude but I kinda don't want him to so that things doesn't get too easy for him all of a sudden since he couldn't even beat his own personal trainer)

EDIT: Judging by the above posts lol, can any LN reader kindly tell me exactly what was skipped please? I'm not complaining or anything but since I'm so heavily invested in this arc, I'd like to know everything that I'm supposed to have known by this point

Nope they just showed that tournament people have been mentiong that was cut plus a few more details about the world and a few new characters. But it was cut due to episode shortage otherwise wouldn't be able to fit the first 6 into the first 24 episodes

It's actually a hidden mechanic in this world, a lot of people can do it though unconsciously. There are more to this in the future episodes. But the anime might not be able to express it fully.

So we get a 2 year timeskip and a little glimpse into Kirito and Eugeo's life at the sword academy.

Kirito's new sword looks really cool, and his match against his senior should be fun to watch.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

This 2 years time skip, happen while we were watching EP6 :P
if i were to guess from when Asuna came to Ocean Turtle until she went to sleep and stuff Kirito spend 2 years in there, she is probably sleep atm.

he Does think about Real world ppl a lot and getting back etc. but he is not rushing it, specially after learning a bit more about UnderWorld, he think since he got the chance of being in a faster time place, he want to use this chance and figure out underworld, coz he think it's a mistake that he got his Real memories otherwise Rath would not let him

Dont worry, they skipped trivial fights. Next up come real life-threatening fights for the whole set of characters featuring advanced tactics and sword mastery + magic(kinda). Next episode has another time-skip bit and then its pretty much real-time for the next 35 episodes full of fights, with the exception of 1.5-2 episodes of incredibly important plot exposition.

To me I were surprised how light the punishment is, especially if he can actually reject the dual.

Instead, this is an opportunity for Kirito to show off how amazing he always is, so ofc he'll never in hell rejecting the dual despite it might cost his life because he's sure he'd win anyway. .

Actually it always had, even in Aincrad where Kirito cried in his first day while doing a quest for his first Sword right after he left Klein, he meet a NPC mother curing his NPC daughter and it just made him feel homesick and remember his step-family... realizing how he distanced himself from them for so long coz it was not his Real family and now he might have lost them forever.
there is many moment in novel but cut off in anime.

in UnderWorld the first thing he think after waking up is asuna and how he miss her present, when he did not knew its Real life or Virtual and what he should do now he again think of Asuna and realized how much she recently helped him on his decisions and how much he relayed on her.

some other reminder of his family/friends while he was chopping tree etc
again remembering asuna and yui due to another reason later on the festival night in village.
and go on...

Anime cut all these sadly lol :D

Hey, a new Bishoujo character. Can't complain about that, Liena-senpai is looking good. XD

Anyway, good episode again.

I'm actually pretty interested in this academy life and I would've liked it to have been expanded upon as well instead of us getting the 2 year timeskip. From reading above, I guess it wasn't covered in the LN as well so no can do I suppose.

Loved the scene where Kirito got his sword that was carved from the tree's branch, the way the air rustled the room when he swung his sword was awesome.

I so wanted to see the fight at the end, can't believe the episode ended there. I also wanted to see Kirito show his 'Aincrad' style to Liena-senpai.

Looking forward to next week.

As the LN reader I think this episode is pretty good.
At first I thought that they'll skip entirely some part, like where Kirito's sword come from, or how they entered Sword Academy. But thank God, they bring that part as flash back (a little bit dissapointed, actually. But, it's ok). So, I really excited how Liena will looks like in the anime, aaannd, booom.. really love her :)
I really wanted to see her in Anime since I was reading volume 10 of the novel last year.

also, kirito seems to have all of his memories.
so why is he so fine with everything? why doesnt he want to find a way to go back to real life?
doesnt he want to go back to asuna and everyone else?

Kirito is actually trying to get back the whole time. He is searching for a way to contact a system administrator and a place where one would most likely be able to do so is the Axiom Church since it is the central building in the main city, Centoria. This is Kirito's assumption. Luckily, Eugeo is also headed for the Axiom Church because of Alice. And one way to get into it is to become an Integrity Knight which is why Eugeo and Kirito joined the Swordcraft Academy in the first place. So both of them are constantly working on their goals.

Really nice episode, but it felt so short! Volume 10 is actually my favorite so far so I'm looking forward to everything that happens and especially to that duel.
Loved Kirito's moment with his new sword, it came across as powerful without showing off actual skills. Too bad they cut the part where Kirito actually split a buckler hanging on the wall in half and they only realized it when it fell apart as they were about to leave. And then he tried to figure out whether it was a violation of the Taboo Index or not. That panic would have been hilarious to watch. xD
So, if anyone is heavily invested in all of this I can only recommend to read the light novels as the anime can naturally implement only a small fraction of the story.

so mental strength or confidence is the key to becoming stronger on underworld then, Kirito have plenty of that so i bet he will win this match

Tbh this setting is bit baffling to me too.
It just give reasons for Kirito's bullshit moment later on cuz "You have to be overconfident/ full of yourself" to become op.

to me its fine, Accel World which is made by the same author as SAO have the same concept of being overconfident overrides (virtual) reality, its more like willpower so the greater your will the greater your chance of success

This episode was pretty coo. The Sword on the other hand was just freaking beautiful in terms of art, color, and animation. But from what I was reading or skimming through in the discussions or comments. Was there anything missing in terms of adaptation? If any fan or light novel reader can clarify that for me that would be great.

Oh so the timeskip thing happened in the LN too? Okay then, I was under the impression that they showed their 2 years in the academy in the LN

Nope they just showed that tournament people have been mentiong that was cut plus a few more details about the world and a few new characters. But it was cut due to episode shortage otherwise wouldn't be able to fit the first 6 into the first 24 episodes

Eugeo and Kirito spent some time helping out at a farm and then participated in a tournament to be granted admission to the Academy. Since they won they are now allowed to study there. There were also some hints about a character that will appear later on but it's nothing that is crucial at this point.

Kirito vs 1st seat of swordcraft academy next week reminds me on Matsuoka Yoshitsugu's another character vs 1st seat of Elite Ten of the school about cooking, but now sword duel...lol Matsuoka....

We return to Underworld and to our surprise, it's been two years since we last saw Kirito and Eugeo, now the boys are students of a swordsmanship academy, where Kirito is Sortiliena's valet, a girl who has amazing skills with the sword and she is very beautiful. Like other Isekai with elite schools, there was no lack of clowns of the nobility who look less at Kirito and Eugeo, but at least the boys do not give them the pleasure of being offended.
Kirito finally gets a sword that goes with his level and ability, the design is spectacular, reminded me of his sword in SAO, unfortunately Kirito offended the strongest student of the academy, Levanteinn who was looking to fight on purpose with Kirito, Finally as punishment for this offense Kirito is challenged to a duel with real swords, the cliffhanger of the duel will not let me relax.
I read many comments that the studio cut a lot of material from the LN, since I haven´t read them I find that this timeskip was very good, I did not feel that I lacked information. I did not like the noble boys who tried to fight Kirito, I assume that these pigs will do something serious that will make Kirito lose control and hurt them (I hope he does, they have a face to deserve a beating).
It was interesting to hear that the imagination is a fundamental factor in the strength and ability of the swordsman. Eugeo needs more confidence, he always thinks that he is a burden, when in fact he has been a fundamental part of this trip.
It will be necessary to wait a whole week to know if Kirito beats Levanteinn or is defeated by senpai.

The time skip was in the LN it what was before the skip that was cut.

1.5 or 2 years is basically 18 hours in Real world time

Bullshit is hereby legalised - you can override stats without a miracle plot twist now.
Eugeo raised an instant death flag for the flower garden, that was a good one.
Free Aincrad style sword acquired.
4 new ugly faced small fries/baddies in one ep. Just lol...

Other than that, it was fine.
